Yes, if I remember correctly, I read somewhere that roaches can hold stuff they ate for up to 72 hours unlike crickets which are like 24 hours. So yes what your roach eats, your beardie will eat. I personally feed my roaches the same stuff my beardie eats like dandelion greens, mustard greens, collard greens, squash, carrots, as well as left over fruits like apple cores, loose grapes, left over mango. Just gotta be careful witht he fruit or you could get fruit flies. I leave veggies in there for 2 days but fruit comes out after 1 day. As for protein, I feed mine Repashy bug burger dry(they go crazy for it) as well as cricket chow and fish flakes. You can also go to feed stores and buy 25 lb bags of chicken mash which is cheap and pretty high in protein as well.

Anyone have a good suggestion on a roach barrier for their bin?

Currently using Vaseline, but it seems the smaller nymphs can get through it no problem. Haven't had any escapees, but it's a matter of time. Especially since my colony (140 females, 30 males) has exploded in the last three months, doesn't help that my beardie is in a "I like super worms more" phase, and isn't eating them like crazy. Turtles and leopard gecko like 'em, but they don't get fed anywhere near the amount my beardie does.

I just realized the temp in my dubia bin was too low. I don't think they were breeding. On the upside, they have been eating well and living haha. I already have an under the tank heater, branded for reptile use. Since that was not hot enough I just put a red light heat bulb over them to increase the heat in the tank. I had this red light left over from before. So my question is does red light annoy the roaches? I could always pick up a ceramic heat emitter if I need to. I just want these suckers to breed so I can start feeding them off! Kenny loves them!!! :D

Popsickle, they should have a day and night cycle.

So a day light as well as a night light or will a ceramic heat emitter and the regular transition of light to dark in the room they are in work fine? Thanks :)

The CHE will work good. Or a heating pad. In a normal room that they can see day n night.

Day night cycles were actually something we were discussing.

Have you ever seen any difference in not using a day night cycle?

I keep mine in a closet that has no light. The only light they ever get is the very dim light from the room when I open the door to give them more food and water, which isn't every day by a long shot.

I would have to say that I personally think I have a very good rate of breeding going on, to the point where it's not like I need them to get the deed done faster.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is do you really believe it necessary?

Hi Brandon, I have seen a difference in the breeding. I seen a better production rate when they had day n night cycles. Also seen less of a death rate. :D

So if you noticed less death rate and better production, should I run a a regular incandescent bulb during the day and then shut it off at night to simulate a day/night cycle? Or would that really mess the roaches up with the light blub in there during the day? ATM i'm using a UTH to keep the heat, was using a CHE but I think that dried the bin out too much even with a bottle of water in there and a water crystal dish cause I found 1 roach dead stuck in his molt and a female dead with her egg sac sticking out(a shame too cause it was a big egg sac) Oh also Twobeardieguy, I hear you sell dubias. If so can you PM with a price for say 20 females and 5 males? Thanks.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
