I'm excited to be getting a baby bearded dragon on June 4 or 5. Spoke to a few breeders at a reptile expo today about food options, but wound up confused.

What diet gives babies a healthy head start? Are all feeders equivalent in nutrition with added supplements?

I've heard that juveniles will eat 80% insects, 20% veggies, and then the feeding gradually reverses to 20% insects and 80% veggies. Is this true?

What insects will be the most nutritious for my baby? Should I give variety?
- dubia roaches
-phoenix worms
-horn worms
-crickets
-mealworms
-any else missing?

Will research for the right veggies to give him/her.
My question is, how often should I feed veggies so he/she will switch to veggies easier as an adult? Is it once a day, twice a day, or do I, once a week,
replace insect meal with veggies? Or do I make veggies available in his/her bowl all day?

Do I sprinkle supplements on veggies, too?

Should I get into a weekly routine on the feeders and veggies given during feedings or try to offer variety spontaneously?

Sorry for all the questions. If anyone could answer even one, I'd be very, very grateful!

If you can go with large phoenix worms they are high enough calcium to not need dusting, just multivitamin. They have no hard shell either so no impaction issues. Only thing is, they will begin eating them by the hundred

Also, scratch mealworms you want superworms and only when its 16 inches or so long

I've heard that juveniles will eat 80% insects, 20% veggies, and then the feeding gradually reverses to 20% insects and 80% veggies. Is this true? <<<<< 90% live insects is better as babies , they need the protein

What insects will be the most nutritious for my baby? Should I give variety?
- dubia roaches <<<< OK if right size and gut loaded and dusted with Ca powder
-phoenix worms <<< excellent feeder
-horn worms <<<< .... NO
-crickets <<<< MY CHOICE - OK if right size and gut loaded and dusted with Ca powder
-mealworms <<<< .... NO
-any else missing? <<<<< silkworms , a super feeder insect, will give your baby a great start in life

Will research for the right veggies to give him/her. <<<< I favour buk choi greens, grated carrot, grated sweet potato, raw green beans and peas (finely chopped)
My question is, how often should I feed veggies so he/she will switch to veggies easier as an adult? Is it once a day, twice a day, or do I, once a week,
replace insect meal with veggies? Or do I make veggies available in his/her bowl all day?

<<<<< baby beardies two or three insect meals per day every day + offer veg/salad/greens with second meal of insects, if the breeder has done a good job ,the hatchling will already be eating some greens and salad when you collect it .

Do I sprinkle supplements on veggies, too? <<<< optional (Ca powder is generally tasty to lizards, vitamin powders seem offputting

Should I get into a weekly routine on the feeders and veggies given during feedings or try to offer variety spontaneously?
<<<< routine is important to them , they'll know when to be up and ready for the next feed, lights and heat on a timer , feed same times each day

Sorry for all the questions. If anyone could answer even one, I'd be very, very grateful!

See my answers above.

I'll add :
no coloured globes in tank
a CHE is useful for overnight if it gets colder than 21oC (on a timer and a thermostat).
no standing water in tank
no sand or other particulate beddings (for hatchlings)
UVB source must be rated at least 10%UVB
UVA source rated at least 30%UVA
a MVB is an excellent choice for heat, UVA , UVB and sunlike light (all in one)
15 - 16 hours lights ON and heat each day for best growth (similar to conditions wild beardies experience in summer in their natural range).

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
