My son who is 7 is a huge Harry Potter fan! For some time now he has wanted his own pet like in the story. I said no to a Rat, and an Owl is illegal to keep as a pet so I settled for a bearded dragon. However, he had to pay for everything except the tank, I told him I would buy that. So here we are months later, we brought Professor Maximus home! Max for short! We got lots of advice here on this forum, we are praying that we got a healthy one, since we did have to buy him from petco :( We took all of the advice on what to look for for a healthy one. He is a little smaller than we would have liked, the girl said he was 2 months old, but he is awful tiny. He ate 4 crickets when we got him home and seems to love having the kiddos hold him. He fell asleep in my hand tonight then crawled into a tiny spot in the corner of the tank and went to sleep. I have to admit, I was kinda grossed out with this idea in the beginning and thought this 7 year old, old man of mine would never have the patience to save up for him, but he did, and I am kinda loving the little creature! I will post pics as soon as I figure out how to!!! So grateful for this forum and the wealth of knowledge here!

Cute little dragon :D the dragons at petsmart and petco are small because they are to cheap to care for all their animals for the short time they'll own them. :angry5: :banghead: :angry5:

I got Darwin from Petsmart at 6", which is a good size for them to go to their new homes. He could fit on my thumb. Your dragon looks like it's doing well though, and even has a bit of a belly starting!

Thank you for actually doing the research BEFORE buying your dragon! It will be off in the end, not only with the money you will save by knowing what you need already, but it will pay off with your dragon living much longer and healthier life.

We bought Max a piece of bendable grapevine and a hammock today! He LOVES them!!! Didn't eat much today though, 1 cricket and I hand fed him a couple pieces of Kale...Maybe tomorrow he will be more hungry. Gosh he loves being held, I really didn't believe that he would like it that much, but he fights us when we try to put him back in his tank! He is such a cutie! Well, we don't know if he is a he, but we will call him that!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
