Hi folks. Just got back from a vet checkup where I had a fecal exam and blood work done for my 5.5 month old beardie, Malmö. Still waiting on the blood results, but the fecal came back with high counts of protozoan parasites (3-4 different kinds  ) and moderate coccidia (vet says we're not going to treat the coccidia at this time though).
When he was first giving me the treatment plan, I thought that he said we were going to treat with fenbendazole (Panacur), so I was unconcerned. However when he came back with the actual meds and gave Malmö a dose, I realized the bottle said "menbendazole". From what I can find online, they seem to do the same thing and are in the same family of medications, but fenbendazole seems to be safer maybe?
Does anyone know why a vet would prescribe menbendazole over fenbendazole? Has anyone heard of it being used on reptiles before? Any reason I should be concerned? It's been about an hour and a half now since the dose and Malmö's appetite and behavior seems normal, if maybe a little subdued. I'm chalking that up to him being a little tuckered from being out and about for a couple hours though. I just gave him his dinner and he's devoured pretty much all of it.
