Female With Twisted Spine

Hey guys,

I adopted my little girl Qana a couple of months ago and love her to bits

After numerous blood tests I am now happy to report that she is back on to normal after having MBD. I couldn't not adopt her after hearing her previous owner boast about feeding her the wrong things etc. :x My concern now is her poor spine. It is twisted by her pelvis but doesn't cause her any problems with movement or pooing. I'm more worried about if she'll have issues when she comes to lay slugs. I won't be mating her so it's not a worry about getting eggs - i just want her to be happy and healthy.

Is there anyone out there in/ has been in a similar situation with advice?

You could get her fixed although it is rather pricey. I had to have my best breeder fixed after she became egg bound. Now she is just a pet.

Hello,

There really is not anything that you can do about a twisted spine, unfortunately. All you can do is prevent it from getting worse by giving good quality calcium supplementation & good quality UVB lighting. How long has she been this way? Can she support herself on all fours? Can she run normally?
Maybe you could post a picture for us.
That is good it has not affected her activity & her stools.
It is always a possibility that she may not lay any eggs at all, or she might. It is all individual with the females.

Yes she can support herself fine, runs like the wind and stalks her prey.

I've only had her for a two/three months but was like it when i bought her. Since being with me the blood tests have improved and she's looking much better, putting on loads of weight. I will post a picture when i get a camera that works

She is supposedly 10 months old, which she may well be due to stunted growth from poor diet. Bless her, her last owner was only feeding her mealworms! I instantly took her to the vets and got her on a good wholesome diet

She has a repti-glo 10.0 and has regular calcium supplements now.

I knew that there wasn't anything I could do about her spine, I just want to make sure that I can give her the best life possible and hopefully, from everyone else's experiences, to know what to expect so I can be best prepared to help her.
