Female after laying her clutch

Hi! I see a lot of information on the eggs after the female lays, but what about my female? I was wondering if she needs any special care after laying a clutch. She looks quite thin and I was thinking of feeding her wax worms to bring up her weight. Or should I just go on with her normal eating cycle?

Just feed her alot, but focus on more nutritious bugs.....crickets, dubia, superworms, greens like turnip, mustard, collard, dandeliion and various squash. Let her eat pretty much as much as she wants. Keep her hydrated as well and give calcium powder every other day for a while.

If she's kept with a male, put him in another tank. She can get stressed and over bred which can lead to an early death.

I wanted to thank you very much! she is in love with superworms and shes getting bigger :) but i also wanted to ask you another question

How fat should she have been in the first place before I bred her? I am curious and want your opinion since you're on here so much lol

You're welcome. :) Do you have pics of her ? It can be different for each dragon, but generally at least 17" and 325 grams. That's if the dragon is at least 14 months old because they grow at different rates and the dragon should have the chance to reach adult size. Some 14 month olds will be much bigger than that....but if they are smaller then it would be best not to breed such a small dragon. Even so, some small dragons carry eggs just fine but it's best not to take the chance.

A good average weight for a 19-20" dragon [ average female size ] would be in the 400 -500 gram range, but not much more. One thing that some owners don't realize is that a fat dragon can have more health problems during egg laying because the fat makes it difficult for the eggs to grow + move freely as they need to move down the reproductive tract....so fatter is not better.

But all beardies are different, just like people....it's not good to be too thin or too fat.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
