Feeding questions

I have had my juvenile beardie, Spyro, for about 10 days now. He doesn't seem very interested in hunting. I have tried crickets and mealworms. I was told that mealworms as bad due to impaction but he just doesn't seem interested in hunting the crickets down and I think superworms would be too big. He is going to the bathroom everyday and I have been misting him once or twice a day. He drinks some of the water that rolls down his face. He is mainly interested in his basking spot. He is in a 20 gallon fish tank for now with a 100w basking bulb and a desert uvb bulb. My room stays around 70 at night so I have not been using a night bulb. Oddly he eats leafy vegetables like collared greens almost everyday. I usually see him eat at least one or two crickets, usually right when I drop them in. The rest just end up crawling around and eventually dying. He ate an extra small dubia nymph and two large crickets last night but today I have only gotten him to eat a piece of collared green and a tiny bit of wet pellets. He still seems to get really stressed out when being handled. I don't think he was being fed live feeders at the store I got him from. All I seen was a bowl with that dehydrated bug/veggie mix that was moisten. Otherwise he seems healthy. He is always looking around and seems like he has filled out a little since he came home.

Hi. What a cutie :D . He may still have some relocation stress. That can last a couple of weeks. If he doesn't seem interested in crickets in a few more days you can try different feeders. Phoenix worms are excellent for a little one.

Hello,

Your Spyro is beautiful. Have you considered feeding him/her in a smaller separate container. My little girl was 6 - 6 1/2" and only 7gr when I got her. She didn't seem to hunt very well in her 40 gal breeder tank so I moved her to a smaller feeding tote. The tote is much easier to clean and monitor the actual number eaten. The crix tended to hide very well under her logs and would get behind her rock wall and die, so I never knew exactly how many she was consuming. Her tote has a mesh lid and what she doesn't eat are left in there for her next feeding.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
