Both of my beardies seem to be "practicing" brumation. 2 females 7 months old, one is 15 inches, the other 14 inches long. Koche, the bigger one is in a 120 g tank with reptisun 10 and 100 w halogen basking bulb. Sabella, the smaller one is in a 30 gal tank with reptisun 10 and 100 w house hold basking bulb.
They both have reptile carpet for substrate and temps run in the normal range 95-101 in basking and 80 or so on cool side. The both have been ravenous eaters with the crickets. Going through 100 a day between the both of them. About mid october they began to slow down to maybe half of what they were use to. Since Novemeber, they've barely eaten anything living. Tried the phoenix worms and that was a bust. They're just not interested in live food.
I still make greens available, lettuce, green pepper, broccoli, peas, carrots, green beans, squash, asparagus....apples, banana, strawberries, grapes. They aren't really even touching that.
I had read on this site that somebody was trying baby food with great success. My question is how much and how often? I'm syringe feeding with drops on the nose with beef, squash and sweet potato's and I'm mixing in calcium and vitamins. Calcium 4 times a week and vitamins 2 times a week. They seem to be injoying it, scarfing it down quickly. I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.
From what I've read about brumation, they don't want food on the stomach during that time. Can make them sick. So, since they're not sleeping all the time and are interested in eating, am I ok feeding them?
They sleep much more during the day then usual, but have periods of time while awake and moving about the tanks looking for food maybe??? Or cuddle time, trying to get my attention.
Thanks in advance for any advise.
Ok, here are some pics.
