Feeding a baby beardie

I can't decide whether to get a juvie or a baby. If I do get a baby do I have to feed it crickets? I would prefer to feed worms but not sure what worms a baby could manage to eat. I don't really want to have to cut them up if I don't have to.

You don't HAVE to feed crickets. Dubia nymphs, calci/repti/Phoenix worms appropriately sized (basically all the same worms) and also butter and silk worms are good options along with appropriate veggies, fresh all day.

:) Hope that helps. We have had our guy since he was 2 weeks old and HATED crickets. We made the switch to dubia roaches and the above mentioned worms for him.

I don't think Dubia roaches are legal here in Canada. That's probably a good thing cuz my husband would likely make me move out if I tried to bring roaches into our home. :)

Not sure how available those worms are either. :( I think I have only seen mealworms, butter worms, superworms and those big blue worms at our Petsmart and Aquarium store. They all seem quite large though for a wee baby beardie?

You are correct. Dubia roaches are not legal in Canada. I have ordered from two places online:

supercricket.ca - they have superworms you can order in sizes as well as phoenix worms (plus the usual crickets, etc). Good service/products and fast to respond if you email with questions/concerns. I don't see silkworms or hornworms on their site, so assume they don't carry those, but never asked.

I have also ordered from Recorp.ca. Products were good, but I never got a quick response from them and payment needs to be done via phone, fax or email. You can't pay online. They carry hornworms and silkworms as well as silkworm and hornworm eggs. Keep in mind that hornworms and silkworms need a specialized diet so you will have to order food for them as well if you want them to last any amount of time, and they grow FAST.

Capital Dragons also carries most of the feeders, but I have never dealt with them so cannot comment on the quality of the products or service.

Not sure where you're located, and if you could pick up from any of these suppliers. Shipping is expensive!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
