Fed up with PetCo

Pretzel's gotten much too big for her 20gal tank--she just hit a growth spurt last month and the poor thing's been running from one end of the tank to the other. So a few weeks ago I ordered her a new tank from PetCo (through Amazon, but PetCo was the seller). I received an email saying it would take two weeks to ship (since they were out of stock and had to order me one) and the tank would arrive by August 8th.

Three weeks later, my account hasn't been charged and the tank hasn't been shipped. Yesterday I finally sent them an email, and I got a message back today. Since whatever vendor PetCo used didn't ship the tank within the week, they cancelled my order.

Without a word to me about it, naturally, until I pestered them. The message ended by recommending I re-submit my order; I sent them a rather strongly worded reply assuring them I would do no such thing. My poor beardie has been in a cramped cage this whole time, and will have to wait even longer because they couldn't be bothered to let me know they were cancelling my order. They didn't even bother to close the order on Amazon, which was still worded as "pending" until this morning.

Normally I don't like chain pet stores anyway, and wouldn't have tried to buy this tank, but it was the cheapest one I could find of the right specs. I was able to find one today that's $50 cheaper and should arrive on Monday, and backed by Amazon so I'm sure it'll arrive on schedule.

Sorry, just had to vent. If you're looking at getting a new tank, I most definitely don't recommend PetCo.

Oh man that sucks! Petco/Petsmart I just go for doggie stuff unless their some great sale or something.

I was going to say try craigslist one might of popped up in the 3-4weeks they made you wait and didn't update you...

Anyways glad you found one!

Boom. I've said it in a few of my posts too. HAHA, the punch game. entertaining for about 90 seconds, then I find my own fist twitching, moving ever closer to the screen..... I just have a punching bag. :wink:

But yes, I had the same issue of tank to small, guy I got him from kept him in a 20L, Pet/co/smart said it was a 40G. Etc Etc. ANd after searching and searching for a tank I just decided to build my own. I could make it bigger and cooler than what it would have cost to buy everything, cage, cage furniture, etc. And what I did in the mean time was just let him hang out with me all day, on my shoulder or running around the couch or the living room. I really onbly put him in there to sleep, since he sleeps all night and doesn't move.
