Fat or perfect?? and not eating after relocation

I have been worried about Ozzy for about a week and a half now. We moved him from his 55 gallon tank to a custom built melamine enclosure! He has way more room to run and his temps are perfect! Not to mention the brand spanking new Repti-sun 36 inch bulb..( BTW: we have a thermometer with a probe, you just cant see it! The previous owner left his disk ones we just didnt take them off..)

Still a little shabby looking on the outside ( we bought off of craigslist for 40.00$$) we are going to paint when the weather is nicer

My worry is this! He hasnt been eating. I have a dubia colony and im not sure if he is just getting bored with them or what the problem is. He eats some veggies if i sprinkle with calcium.. he was eating superworms but will not touch the dubia or will only eat 1-2.

I just weighed him tonight and he is 425g almost 1lb. he is around 18 inches long! Is he at a good weight?? He is around 10-11 months old. Should i be concerned he isnt eating?? He is still pooing and moving around normally.

Hello, At his weight cutting back on feeders a bit won't be a problem. His lack of eating may be due to new surroundings, most likely he is just cutting back on his amount of protein on his own. I have Tyrus my younger dragon pegged at around 8-9 months old and he has started cutting back protein on his own already. Have you ever had a fecal done? just curious.

Hi Kalyn, Thank you for responding.. No i have never had a fecal done on him but i never saw a need to. Maybe just for the sake of making sure hes ok i should. We do have a vet right around the corner, I will give them a call tomorrow.

I totally forgot that as they get older they tend to not eat as much protein. Should i stop trying to feed him the dubias everyday? What else should i give him. I do give him a big salad everyday of Spring mixed lettuce and i try to throw in a carrot or green peppers, or some fruit every once and a while but he doesnt seem to eat it. He loves getting at the calcium so when i feed him i sprinkle it with that 5 times a week so i know he will eat. He doesnt seem to want anything lately. Ive tried apples, strawberries, bananas, blue berries, and Kale. I also bought those soft dragon bites from Petsmart to see if he would eat them.. NOPE... tomorrow im going to try some fresh green beans..

Thanks again for your help!

Hmm we definitely want him eating salads, maybe you could try giving salad in the morning then feeders later on for dinner. Just making sure he has at least two hours with the basking light on to digest. If you find the greens dry out over the day you can use water (I use reptisafe to treat it first) to keep it fresh. Both my guys love collard greens, I get them at Walmart. Turnip greens are another great one and many types of squash are faves of beardies. I'm not sure of you have seen the nutrition page at beautiful dragons but here is a link in case you haven't; it is extremely helpful to me.

Yes i try to follow that site but Mr. Ozzy pants is way to picky! He does get his salads 2 hours after lights on! And he nibbles but only if i dust it first.. He is usually really good about eating it but since we moved him hes been kinda stressed. I am hoping another few days and he will get over it. At first he was acting like a crazy weirdo! Running all over, trying to climb walls and just throwing a hissy fit, He has calmed down on that alot but now he seems to just sit and not really roam around as much. He does a little glass dancing in the morning, im wondering if he is trying to get out or if hes having a conversation with the 2 cats who are perched on the diningroom table.. lol   ( They want to eat him )

I hope he goes back to normal soon, I need him to be happy so i can be :) I'm one of those moms!

:D

It sounds like location stress. I would not feed hime live for a bit. And maybe try some tough love on those greens. Get him off the lettuce. He will be OK if he does not eat for a bit. A couple of days not eating will not hurt him at all. You might try not feeding for a whole day or two then introducing new greens and see if he will take them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
