That pimple/bump he had on his eye peeled off today. He's still closing his eyes. I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow again, for the third time in about 5 weeks.

Anyone have any advice though? Unless the vet requires it, I'm putting vet trips on a hold for a long while. I can't keep bringing him in only to be prescribed new medicines that don't help his eyes. Hopefully the vet will tell me what to do with his left eye/left eyelid so that I can just give Ty medication for both eyes and then pray they eventually get better. Right now that's all I feel I can do.

Hello,

I believe you are doing everything that you can do. They should have found something if an eye culture was done & need to treat it with the appropriate medication. He obviously has an abscess or some other type of infection of the inner lid or behind the eye in the socket, possibly, that has settled. Maybe an overall antibiotic such as Baytril or Ceftz, would do a better job kicking the infection.
Let us know how he is doing.

The vet looked at Ty again today. He says the eye's actually look better even though he still keeps them closed (unless he's agitated, then he opens them), and until I see him again in 10 days he told me to take him off his eye medication and see how his eyes do. He gave me Vitamin A to give to him twice between now and then, and he gave Ty a B-12 shot (I think) to stimulate his appetite.

Thankfully Ty actually gained a couple of grams from last time I brought him in, so despite his only eating baby food, he hasn't been dropping in weight.

Hello,

Well, that is good news about Ty. Hopefully his eyes are starting to clear up then, it just takes some time though. At least he has managed to maintain his weight anyway that is great.
The B-12 shot should help him out quite a bit, as well as a boost from the vitamin A will help his eyes heal up.

Keep us posted on him.

Ok, Ty has been having problems with his right eye for awhile. If you have looked at, or check out my old threads, you'll see that. For the past couple of weeks I have been applying an ophthalmic ointment that the vet gave me to his right eye, which has ulcers from some sort of trauma. At times it seems to be getting better, he moves it around in the socket and might kick it too.

ANYWAYS. Lately his left eye has been shutting more often. I'm not sure why. He has been on tile and/or paper for the last couple months. He may have gotten sand in his right eye, but it would be difficult for him to get anything in his left eye.

I bought some more of what I THINK is saline solution at walmart today and have applied it to his left eye. It is Bausch & Lomb Eye Wash Eye Irritating Solution. The main ingredient is purified water. I chose it over another solution that explicitly said "Saline Solution" but was for contact lens cleaning.

He hasn't eaten since last week, but part of that could be because I had to move back up to college so he may be dealing with moving stress.

I had same problem (well very similar) with Dewi recently. I was given Tiacil antibiotics to clear up the infection. (drops in the eye twice a day). I also changed to arcadia tube lighting rather than the coils I was using.

It did take about 3 weeks to fully clear up but got there eventually.

Thanks alot Drache and Luthor, y'all are really encouraging me.

Today Ty had a bad day. I didn't get to see him until about 5 when I got home from work. He was in his basking spot, but he wasn't yellow like he is when he soaks in the light. It looked like he had just laid on his rock all day because his stool was right under him, as if he hadn't even moved around the cage like he usually does to use the bathroom (thankfully the stool was big and looked healthy). I didn't get to feed him baby food today, although I tried to feed him greens that he wouldn't eat.

The next few days I'm booked with work as well, so I just hope he will be doing okay. Tomorrow and Friday at lunch I'll make sure to give him reptaid and baby food if nothing else, though. His eyes are both shut still.

Good news and baddish news. Today he seemed to be opening his eyes a bit more--a huge improvement over keeping them shut unless I really irritate him. However, for a second day, he seemed kinda sickish, as if he wasn't getting enough heat. For some reason, the lamp that was producing upwards of 102, 103 degrees a few days ago, was hardly breaking 93. I moved his stuff higher so it got to 98 degrees, and I think he took that better.

I need advice on this though: He's been pooping like crazy the past few days. Yesterday he had a big stool, with good urates I think. Today, I think he's gone three times. Each time it's been not much stool and liquidy. Even after his lights went out tonight, he laid a big stool, and it was very liquidy mixed with a normal brownishness. No other colors, and no urates. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, or if he's just stressed (which I'm sure he is).

I was supposed to give him .1 ml of Vit A every 5 days. Today I accidentally gave him two doses. I didn't realize the syringe was going to slip so easily. It shouldn't hurt him should it?

Over the past week, his eyes have seemed to be opened more--as well as looking better--at times. The Vit A has been making him poo alot. I'm also still having to feed him reptaid and baby food as he hasn't been touching (or usually seeing) his greens or worms. Today I caught him rubbing his left eye against the wall for the first time in awhile... a little disheartening since I was hoping it was feeling better.

At times he still has stress marks and a dark (not black) beard.

His left eye lid where he had the pimple that rubbed off is getting a little purpley. I go to the vet again tomorrow, but in the meantime I'm thinking of putting Neosporin or Polysporin on it. Which one is safe for beardies??

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
