You have been answered by experienced people, but you don't like what they said. By the way, waving isn't showing dominance, it's showing submission.

Thanks, didn't know that waving was showing defeat. That helps.

If it's a tank you can buy a peice of wood can install it on the inside to make two separate 6' X 40" enclosures. But seriously, if you're honestly looking for help you should reread your post and perhaps think how you might be coming off with an attitude. We're like a big family here, so coming in and showing an attitude straight off the bat isn't really taken very kindly by anybody.

I've tried wood, i made one at the start. But somehow every time the big beardie climbs to the top lays directly under the heat lamp. but he nevers goes to the little beardie side. Ive never seen how he climbs it, its always when im gone. Im not trying to cock an attitude i just hate when people say stuff and come off that im stupid.

You can also get a peice of glass or plexiglass cut to the correct size and silicon it in place, then cover the plexi class so they can't see through it. You'll have to move your beardies out of the enclosure for a few days until it cures - just another option.

The thread where that dudes beardy ate the 14" iguana comes to mind...

Just say no to bearded dragon cohabitation! If your tank is really 12' long and you have fixtures on either end, then I don't see why this is even an issue....just divide the tank and half and be done with it.

Before you all read this, if all of you all go by what the book says to do, you shouldnt probably read this, but anyways.

Uhm, I've got 2 beardies. And well, my little 4 month old is getting to big for his tank and can't hardly move around any at all. Hes 10 almost 11 inches long and fat as a bear. My other one, is 18 inches long and around 10 months old, recently for the past week ive been putting them together in the huge tank i have to see how they react. My little lizard isn't scared of anything, he usually runs and jumps on the big one's back and they bask together. But after 20 or 30 minutes the big one will run and jump in front of the little one and bobble his head showing aggression and dominance i suppose, but does nothing else. My little one also shows dominance by waving his hand ya know, but what im asking him that i want your straight answer, i dont want your opinion that everyone reads off the instructions or what someone has said, i want to know from only the people who has experienced this.. Can i just let them live together? At night ill put them seperate but im wanting to keep them together all day without supervision while im at college and stuff. I know all sites say that you shouldnt let them be around each other, but its a funny thing every single pet store ive been to they are always living together with atleast 10 in a tank and never any problems. in fact, my big beardie lived with 4 other dragons. So whats your opinion, if i keep them seperated at night and feed them in different tanks, think i should have a problem? Once again, experienced people only please.

It sounds like you are already getting dominance issues already mate (no need to wait for it to come to blows before you do something about it). Both dragons are already telling the other one to *#@% off for the lack of better term and with either of them having nowhere to go it'll definitely come to blows.

I have more experience with large fish than I do with Beardies at the moment.

You can get something called egg crating at the hardward store, dirt cheap. It's white plastic and can be cut easily to fit the size of your tank. It looks like a waffle but with holes. Because of my lack of experience I don't know if plastic is a good idea. Also, you really need to smooth the edges after cutting it as it can be pretty sharp. I used it when I had to separate my fish due to fighting, etc and it made it easier to catch them too.

IMO with regards to the pet stores. They have such a large turnover, no beardie gets a chance to be the dominant one. I know that's why cichlids (fish) don't fight while at pet stores when there are so many in one tank. As the number dwindles, then there will be beardies showing the more dominant side.

I hope this helps.

I've never wanted to house beardies together, so I guess I don't have experience with it myself... But my beardie Dudley lived with another beardie in his previous home. Dud is a pretty good sized dragon, but the female he lived with was very stunted in growth and much smaller than him. He is missing a few inches of tail, and she was missing half of her tail and one of her feet. Even the reptile store seperated them when they were surrendered.

As far as pet stores housing beardies together, pet stores house a lot of young animals together that will kill eachother as adults. I work at a pet store, and we never have more than 2 or 3 beardies at a time. But when I look at them, I can easily tell which is submissive/dominant.
When some of the reptile stores have adult beardies together, they are ALWAYS missing limbs. Large groups of beardies probably work a little better since it is more difficult to be singled out, but it still isn't a good idea.

IMHO pet stores are absolutely NOT the role models of beardie husbandry. There is a reason why the majority of experienced owners "go by the book". I'm not opposed to going against the grain in some cases, but when an innocent life is at stake, it is just not worth it. My latest beardie came from a pet store where he was housed with another dragon. They started out comparable in size and seemed somewhat healthy for several weeks(I would peek at them any time I went in) until one day I saw that one was big and healthy...one was slowly starving. He was very very thin and very timid. Even as I came to the glass, the big one was tromping all over the smaller one. I cannot guarantee that he would have died had I left him there, but I think it is more than just possible. If you have a tank that just needs a divider, please consider doing so. Your dragons are not friends, even though it is very human to think they are.

12 feet! That's a big enclosure. Good job! Now all you have to do is partition it in half with a piece of wood or sturdy cardboard as others have said. 6 feet for one, and 6 feet for the other, and voila! Happy and safe beardies :) Just make sure each has a hot side and a cool side as well as UVB, which I'm sure you know. I have no experience with this issue, as I only have one beardie, but I have educated myself on them as much as possible. HTH!

My advise to you is to listen to what these good people are telling you. We are here to help one another out not to argue and insult each other. Maybe you should spend some time researching and learning about your pet rather then being rude, it's is vary clean you do not know what you are doing and need help.

Now I'm posting as a member rather than a moderator. When I didn't know any better and before I joined this forum, I'm ashamed to admit that I had 2 beardies together for a short time. One was larger than the other. I thought they were both doing well until I came on here and started asking questions about beardies as a whole. I thought it was cute when they sat on the basking spot together or tried very frantically to catch the crickets faster than the other one but I found out differently. When a longstanding member mentioned that it was not a good idea to have 2 together and informed me of the "signs" to watch for that meant a problem is brewing, I took a closer look. The smaller beardie was showing many signs of stress showing that he was not happy and not really doing well. He would lay on the bottom of the tank with his eyes half closed and dark in color with dark marks on his chest and belly (stress marks) but when I took him out of the tank, his eyes were open wide and his color became much brighter. Shortly after I put him back in their tank, his color darkened right up and he would go and coward in the corner. During feeding time, he was running from the bigger beardie to get out of her way because of how fast she moved. She was gaining weight and shedding but he was staying about the same in size and not eating much at all. So, when I observed these signs, I knew it was time to separate them. I couldn't believe the difference in him in less than a wk. He was eating more, his eyes were nice & bright as well as him being able to bask when and where he wanted to. He gained wt and was shedding almost continuously which was great to see and he was allowed to develop his "own" personality. I was so very thankful that I learned the signs & was able to observe this behavior in time so that he could grow up to be be healthy AND happy. Thought I would share my experience with you in hopes that it will help you and both of your beardies especially since there is such a noticeable size difference. I have heard of females being able to be housed together but it seems to be rare but you have to keep a very watchful eye continuously to be aware of any problems starting.
