EXACT INFO ON REPTIGLO 10 - PLEASE?

Hi. A few Q's that have probably been answered to death but is taking me all night to search :?
1.Could someone please tell us exactly WHY the Reptiglo 10 light is so bad? (i.e. not the side effects but the actual reason the light has these side effects)
2. What exactly are the known side effects?
3. Is it both the flourescent & coiled bulbs that are bad??
4. Recommended alternatives e.g. Reptiglo 8 & 5, Arcadia, Reptisun

I've started this to hopefully get the answers so I can relay them on an Aussie site. I therefore require direct knowledgable answers if I could. No-one here seems to be aware of any problem at all, & it seems to be the most widely recommended & used light. What I know I've read on here over a period of a couple of yrs, & my memorie's not that good at the best of times :lol:

I wish I was proficient enough to thoroughly explain this, but, I am not. So I searched and found this viewtopic.php?f=34&t=101703&p=793076&hilit=ReptiGlo+10.0#p793076. I believe this thread will answer all of your questions.

You did ask for recommendations, so here goes. If you have a 40 gallon (or larger) vivarium, I would recommend a MVB. They contain both UVB and heat all in one bulb. Probably the best bulb out there is the MegaRay (http://www.reptileuv.com/). They also have a FAQ section that is very informative as well.

Question to Tigg, have you looked at the results from the site you posted? They have not tested the Reptiglo 10.0

Unfortunately, there are no independent studies of the ReptiGlo 10.0 that I am aware of.

Thanks so far & yes, the UK site haven't got the Reptiglo 10 listed. Had also looked at the link & yes it answers some questions but not all.

I also forgot to ask if the recommended distances from the various brands could be included as this seems to be a contentious issue here as well.
