Hey guys, Im building this enclosure for my beardie and just wanted to share it to all of you for comments and suggestions. The size is 36" Length, 22" width, and 20" height. It is made of plywood which is waterproof at the same time.

Just a few problems though, can I actually paint the inside of the enclosure so that it wont look dull? If yes, what type of paint can be used which is safe/non toxic for beardies? Also, what can I do to prevent the food of my beardie (dubia and lats) from crawling up the enclosure because it is made of wood?

Is there anything I can place on a wood to make the surface smooth so that I can attach a hammock to it? I believe the suction of the hammock needs to be on glass.

Thank you very much and here are the pictures

Most latex paints should be fine for a beardie. Since nobody panics when a beardie licks their wall at home I'd take that logic to the bank. Since we use spray paints on faux rocks you should be fine with that also. Just let it dry completely and get the smells out. You could also use a polyurethane to seal it and give it the stained look. If you want to hang your hammock away from the glass use a stable gun. to keep wall crawlers down, line the top with clear packaging tape. Dubias are going to be your only concern in that dept.

Okay, thanks for the advice guys! Will post some pictures when my enclo is semi-finished. Just a few more questions though, does anyone here use a feeding bowl for their beardies? Im thinking of using one so that I could just place the dubia inside instead of holding them (Im currently using thongs to pick up dubia because Im afraid to touch them, lol). And also it prevents dubia from running around the enclosure and hiding, which also makes cleaning easier.

Also, regarding the cleaning of the poop, does your dragon poop anywhere in his enclosure or are they trained to poop in one portion?

Thanks :)

nah dubias will run right out. I mean I DO use a feeding bowl but its for veggies. I also grab the dubias with my fingers. Really, its not bad. just do it. They'll grab your finger and you'll be like AHHHHHHH! then you'll realize that its not as bad as you thought. And you can put the dubias upside down in there....kick kick kick kick AHHHHHH NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!

Use a glass bowl with deep tall sides. Dubias can't climb glass. Use one that's clear, so the dragon can see the dubias from far away.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
