Hi everyone. I'm the proud owner of a new beardie that showed up on my back porch one day. My neighbors just moved out and I believe he came from them. I quickly found that crickets from Petsmart leave alot to be desired and become expensive really quick. I just received my first order of crickets from Mulberry farms and I see many dust or add calcium to the crickets feed. Would it be ok to add eggshells i have run through a coffee grinder to their feed? Should I at all? All im using is ground up WalMart Special Kitty Kitten Formula(40% protein) and Fluker's Cricket Quencher calcium fortified. Thanks in advance. I have learned alot from lurking on here the last week.

Personally I would not! Just remember anything you give your feeders your beardie will eat! You can also use tropical fish food flakes, greens, fruits and potatoes!! Good luck...

Here are a few pics of him. My 3 year old named him Pinocchio. He's 14.5" long. Not sure about the weight.

I have heard of egg shells being used as a calcium supplement before. I have never tried it. Keep googling it.

I've heard of cats and dogs being dropped but never a beardie! +1 for you for taking it in and helping it out

Thank you for the compliments and advice. I went ahead and bought Rep-Cal w/D3. I still need to take him to the vet though for a check up but he's eating 40-50 crickets plus some greens and pooping once a day so he seems pretty happy. He's definitely gotten heavier since adopting us.

Wow! He is a looker and does look happy! :D Good for you taking the little guy in!!!! I just slice a couple potatoes in half and feed flukers cricket food. I change out the potatoes every 2-3 days so they don't start to stink... Good luck.

Oh... I feed crushed egg shells to my birds, but never heard of it with beardies

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
