Anyone have a clue why she does this? She never actually breaks it off and ingests it. But she definitely gets it in her mouth and keeps chewing on it. I pull it out and teller no. And she won't do it again for the rest of the night. Silly thing.

I always keep my hair up in a clippy when I am holding my dragons. If they do swallow a long hair it can get wrapped up in them and cause them harm. Be careful!

Ok. I will. I'm curious though as to why they do that. She's not one to just eat random things. :dontknow:

both of my beardies have done that to me.

Mr Dargon just started munching away when it was wet after i showered.
Tasty Treat saw the curly end bobbing and ran across me to attack it.

it must resemble food in some way to them?

Maybe bearded dragons might've eaten grass when they are in the wild. And even though they are captive bred, the behaviors could still be in their generic makeup. Just thinking is all.

The first time I saw Chase eat hair, it was a stranger who asked to hold him

She said her water dragon tries to eat her hair all the time. I guess it's a lizard thing.

I'd be careful. Somebody on one of the gecko boards a while back had a gecko who ingested a strand of hair, and it caused problems for quite a while. Knowing this, I wouldn't let a beardie play with my hair, even though they are larger and more likely to pass it. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Considering full grown humans have died from eating large amounts of hair, I agree.

Oh, I agree completely. I'm not promoting anyone let their beardies eat hair. I just was wondering if anyone knew what the attraction was, since that's the only thing she ever tries to munch on besides her food.

Whenever my dragon Reptar sees my girlfriend pick stuff up (where her hair dangles) he eyeballs the hair lol but doesn't try to eat it. Although he does like to hide in it.. -_-

My girlfriend used to tease my beardie by waving one of her dreads in front of him as he'd track it with his head. One day she bent down in front of his viv with an open door; he leaned out and bit her hair. He let go immediately, then lost interest in doing anything besides climbing her hair.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
