Ive noticed that every week, when I check on my dubias, I find around 5-10 adults dead. Is there a reason for this? I didn't find not even one dead baby or sub-adult, its always adults. Could this be because they are old? or probably something else? Any solution to this problem? :) TIA

how big is your colony and how long have you had it? if you've had it for a while and it's fairly large, 5 dead adults every week isn't bad.

Yep no molds on the veggies. And I keep em hydrated by putting water everyday. I also feed them healthy & clean fruits n veggies.

Ive had this colony for like a month now.. There's like 30-40 adults here and alot of babies and a few sub-adults. Still have no clue on why they die one by one.

everytime I open my bins I usually find a couple or more dead adults. I think it is just happens after them living a full life cycle

Have you guys heard that the water crystals with calcium isn't good for roaches? It's what I've always used but hear it may kill them. going to switch when I run out

just lost 2 more adults today :l this is really frustrating cos dubias here (especially adults) are expensive. i have no idea why they die often. do i have to change the food every day or something? or like put water every day? the temp is around 87F. i use egg crates, dark container, and they have good ventilation.

High amounts of calcium is bad for insects. I cant say exactly how much is bad but I did do an experiment with a high calcium diet and a large majority of the dubia did die.

It sounds like you bought an older colony and the adults are at their end.

never heard that, I used it for a short time before making my own, and never noticed it killing them

Will you explain what you mean by 'making my own'? Do you just mean buying the dry powder and adding water (usually a gallon jug, yes?) *or* something else we must know

Thanks,
~Sherri

There is a virus going around that my be taking them out. It may also be aggravated by certain dietary deficiencies.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
