My bearded dragon, Edgar, is very happy and active. Lately, he's been dunking his nosein his water bowl for a few minutes, lift up his head to breathe, and repeat. Is this normal??? He seemsvery happy by doing it. Plus, he's starting to shed all over, but heavily on his head.

I don't know if it's normal or not, but my girl will go underwater to swim in the bath tub. Your beardie might enjoy that!

Iam no expert however my dragon has done this, I think it may be that your dragon is dehydrated. Perhaps you could give it a nice bath, which would also help sooth that shedding itching skin. :blob5:

All of my dragons will dunk their heads in water daily during their baths. They drink water when they are under there.
Have you tried putting him in water? It helps hydrate them and 75% of the time they will poop in the water.
Obviously take him out after it does.

My Louie loves the bath and dunks her head under too. I panicked the first time she did it, then found out it was normal! I love watching her go under and swim. It just amazes me!!!

My beardie does that quite a lot, but whenever he does that he actually drinks his water! He started doing it mayve, three months ago.

He does it in his bath too, just for not as long.

Shoot! I have a picture of him splashing in his water dish but I can't put it up yet! Doesn't have a URL yet. :banghead:

i cant seem to find anything after searching for it but how deep should the water be for a bath? i fill it up enought taht i goes to his back and i put a little hidey rock that came with him (it was wayyy too small for him but gets him up out of the water if he wants) and he will do a pancake thing where he gets really wide then goes for a swim and does the glass dance only he does it at the tub, i am worried i am making it too deep or he is stressed - any ideas?

If he sort of makes himself skinnier but expands, it's usually because he is thirsty.

I guess it could be any amount deep, as long as your dragon can swim in it.

You want the bath to reach just up to under his "armpits".It is a good idea to have a safe island in there for him as well and yes head dunking, swimming under water are all normal behavior. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
