What I have found that really gives them the nutrients they need and AMPS them up for breeding is.....

1. Fish Flakes
2. CITRUS PEELS (ie. Orange, Lemon, Lime)

Citrus Will Hydrate them (Potatoes are always a given) but something in the citrus really amps em' up. Try it. My friends at the http://TheFeederStore.com told me that & I thank them ever since! Fish Flakes are good because they are a ALL AROUND well balanced diet that will suppliment anything that they wont get from simple veggies. I have been breeding Dubia Roaches for 10 months now and havent had to buy a single roach by utilizing these tips. 10 months ago I bought a 120 starter colony with mized sizes.... Didnt touch em' for 4 months and I've been good to go for the past 6 months. Thats feeding 30-35 adults and 300+ Babies.

Absolutly! Mandarin Oranges ARE a good choice!

You could actually cut an Orange (whether its a Florida Orange or Mandarin) in half and put in in the Dubia Bin. It will keep them severly hydrated like Potatoes would but AMP their breeding. I stick to the peels, less sticky and I WANT THE JUICE! lol.

Best of luck. Any more questions, just ask!

Same here, my dubias only eat the orange, not the peel. Also, when I picked up the peel to dispose of it there were little white worms on it??? Any idea what those could be?

Little white worms?!?! Possible Fly Larvae (maggots) in a 24 hour stage. But no Need to worry about that, a fly could have laid eggs within the orange.... I wouldnt want to be the one to endulge in that fruit. I would stick with a nice Orange Slice, Lemon Slice, or Lime Slice.

Fish Flakes are an amazing Treat with A-Z Vitamins!!!!!!

I have 120 nymphs, pretty big in size, the only food visibly eaten is the orange. How often should I replace the chow (1/2 oats and 1/2 high-protein cat food)? I'll have to try the fish flakes!

I replace my chow every 3-4 days (oats). The cat food you can replace as soon as you notice its gone, or if it gets smelly.

Are you using WET or DRY cat food? If its Dry.... They usually scavange it unto a corner or in the middle of the bin to "store" for their young to feed after birth. I feed mine Bearded Dragon Pellets-Mixed-With Cheap Store Brand Dog Food (Dry), Fish Flakes, CITRUS CITRUS CITRUS, and the Thick Stems of the Collard Greens/Turnip Greens/Spinch, etc. That I dont want my Beardie to choke on... It holds alot of water in the stems & the roaches love em'!

I use dry cat chow grinded up along with the oats ground up and put it in a lid. It doesnt look like they eat it up as fast as I thought they would unless I'm just not seeing it. Maybe if I had more nymphs I would notice. I'll have to use your great idea of placing the collard stems in there for them to eat rather than throwing them away! Can I just sprinkle the fish food on top of their chow?

I find that every little while when I give my Dubia's some orange, the next day they will have had babies.

You all are getting me excited about my colony eventually growing. On July 6th I got 120 nymphs and have witnessed some of them molting already. I havent been able to tell how many adult females I have but have seen some newly molted males. I'm trying not to mess with them too much (other than putting in fresh food and taking out old) and hoping to have babies in a couple months at the very soonest. I think I read on here somewhere there should be at least 2 generations of babies before feeding my dragon? I can't wait to ditch the crickets. They just get nastier and nastier with time :puke:

Everyone - Thanks for all your help on here - :)

I have tried the cat food/fish flake blended they go nuts over it every time its placed in. I use the oranges too. Just becareful they dont mold that can be bad for your roaches. My colony exploded. You know how alot of people buy the bearded dragon pellets and find they stink and your beardie wont eat them i grind them up in there aswell good way to get them gone lol

Okay! I just have to be patient and can't wait to see them explode! I've never used the dried beardie pellets. May have to look into that as a snack too and if he doesnt like them I'll feed them to the dubias.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
