I went to this specialist reptile place, and although he sold them, the guy told me that cockroaches are not good for dragons, because apparently they produce high levels of E. coli and salmonella, which increases levels in dragons. He said they could be treats.
He seems very experienced, having kept dragons- and other reptiles for at least thirty years I think he said, and his own bearded dragon is twenty two years old and fighting fit! He told me that all they should eat is locusts- that crickets are bad because they bite back in their mouths. He doesn't feed veg or anything- maybe a few times a year he said. He told me that in the wild dragons wouldn't eat veg or cockroaches.
He was extremely emphatic about all of this.
Does anyone have anything to comment? Confused!
