OK so I am still a new Dubia colony owner. 2 nights ago I was moving some egg flats around trying to find some small feeders. and found 3 "Sacks" attached to the egg flats. I was excited thinking that my colony was about to take off... but last night I couldn't find the sacks, and there were 3 dead adult female roached in the bin, all 3 with holes in the bottom/back of their abdomen where the sacks come out (I only know this because I saw one laying a sack)

Am I doing something wrong here??

I read they these roaches were supposed to carry the sack until they were ready to come out? So if all 3 mothers are now dead, what will happen to these sacks?

Also, stupid question... Safe to assume that the white roaches are fresh from molting right?? Hadn't noticed it before, initial reaction to my wife was "Look, an albino roach!" lol and she still didn't look! (She's not so happy about these little guys)

My temps are right, humidity should be good now...

Don't know what to tell you about the females as I'm a "green" roach rancher myself. I've seen those white roaches and assume they have molted. My students got a kick out of seeing one of them yesterday.

Are you absolutely sure that they were dead females and not just the shell that was left after they molted? I know from mine there were times that I thought it was a dead one only to find that it was a shell. With mine, I find that the female likes to go on top of the egg flat that is lying over top the rest of the flats, and lay there little ones there. Not sure why but that's what happens every time.

well dubias give live birth so those egg sacks you saw were aborted by the females, and will not hatch at all im not sure why the females died or aborted the egg sacks but most of the time is that they are being disturbed too much that they get scared and release the egg sack. and yes the white roaches are freshly molted

I dont believe that disturbing dubia will make them drop the sac. I check on mine daily and I have never had a dropped sack. A dropped sack IMO is they are stressed, could be due to temps, to much light, to much noise, and other stuff.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
