dreaming / eating in his sleep

so my bearded dragons lights are on a timer they turn on at ten am and turn off at about 3 in the morning .... he did something really weird this morning and i'm not quit sure exactly what it was.... i'm sitting and eating breakfast and all of u sudden i hear him like i guess "Munching" as if he's eating something so i go over to look cuz i have put his food inthere for the day so i figure oh hes up early and is eating already.... but no he's laying in his sleep corner like smacking his lips almost he only did this for a few seconds but he's NEVER done that before..... has anyone else experianced this ??

I've seen Cooper snort and move his legs a little bit like a dog in his sleep. I can't say for sure that he's dreaming, but I have more evidence for it than against it. I've also seen his beard turn jet black in his sleep which makes me think perhaps bad dream.

Haha so maybe they do ;p I was just worried cuz all of a sudden he's like chewing gum or something ( that's what it sounded like )

I believe sometimes they drool in thier sleep, he could have noticed and slurped it back in or something.

I actually came here with a similar question

I noticed around when I first got my beardie, when he is asleep, every once in a while, his eyes will roll under his lids, and occasionally opens them. The first time he did it, it was really scary and I woke up him up. He jolted awake and looked at me confusedly.
He did it again last night, I wouldn't have known if his claws hadn't scratched on the floor.

Do you think this is like REM sleep or should I go check with this...?

I have witnessed strange sleep movements many times over the yrs with my beardies. Sometimes the legs start moving, their eyes open & close, I have heard munching sounds like they are eating and have seen darkened beards. So, I do think they dream just like we do.

Draycebaby, I notice that you said your beardies lights are on a timer, on at 10 am and off at 3 am. Since that's 17 hrs under the lights, you might want to make sure he is waking up rested as most of us use a 10 to 14 hr light schedule, just thought I would mention it. :wink:

I have no idea ... How did u wake him up that he didn't bite you mine puffs up and gets really mad if I try and wake him up before his lights come on .... And them for the rest of the day he's pissed at me lol I hope he's okay though

Do thy need more and 8 hrs a sleep at night ?? Or is my math really off lol

Most of us use 12 on, 12 off with the lights as beardies do need a lot of sleep. I'm just making a suggestion that if your beardie seems tired in the morning or it takes a while for him to get moving, you might want to increase his sleeping hours to 10 to 12 hrs instead.

Oh okay lol I've never heard of the 12 hrs thing haha I'll try to convince my bf to let me change the times he seems to think he's right about everything ><

Good luck with that. Does your beardie seem to wake up refreshed or still act tired & not really want to get moving very quickly?

Some mornings he wakes up and dives into his food right away otherdays he takes almost a half an hr to get up and eat ... I convinced him to change it to 3-12 ten hrs should deffinately help right ??
