Hello,

That is great to hear Steve is doing a little better today!
I am glad he is starting to eat on his own again, too. At least he is trying to get around also, that is terrific!
It sounds like he is feeling better. :D
The sunshine will definitely help. Even if he doesn't sit in the direct sun much, the UVB still bounces around in the shade too.

He's been doing fairly well for how he started out as. ^^ A lot more active and alert still, he's eating crickets and greens for the most part without a problem, though he can't catch crix himself, and is still trying to walk. I think the fat pads on his head are even starting to become more visible, they aren't so nonexistent anymore. He's been getting to go outside very day and it's been really helping him.

Unfortunately the seller who we bought the lights from shipped us he wrong lights, so even though both the fixtures and lights came in we can't use them yet. Need to wait for the seller to get back to us on the light issue.

Hello,

That is great he seems to be more active right now. I am sure the outdoor time is definitely helping him out. That is too bad you got the wrong lights sent to you with the fixture! I hope he gets the right ones to you soon, you definitely need them.
I'm happy to hear he is eating even if you have to help him out some right now. At least his fat pads are starting to fill out some also. It sounds like he is feeling much better.
Keep us posted on him.

Yes this needs to happen. This is the part where you they skip the whole processing and paperwork and just go get a uvb light! Right now! An animal is slowly dying in there like a prisoner in a concentration camp! So send in whoever needs to rescue this animal.

That's great that Steve is improving ! Too bad there's been such trouble getting the lights....where are you ordering from ? But in the mean time he'll get plenty of uvb from going outside so the unexpected delays [ not your fault ] in obtaining the lights won't hurt him. Keep up the good work !

Hello,

I hope he is still enjoying the sun, that should suffice until you can get his UVB in. Any word on that?
They need to make it right for you & Steve since he is patiently waiting for his new light. :D
How is his appetite doing?

Keep us posted on him.

Sadly I haven't heard anything on the lights since my mom emailed them, but I'll ask tomorrow. He's eating pretty well; he eats a bit of greens on his own, eats 5 crickets (though he always wants more), and his reptaboost. He's taken water pretty easily lately too which is good. He also got a quick bath to soak, though since his beard is always black I couldn't tell how he felt about that.

so glad he is finally getting the proper care he needs. have you tried black soldier fly larvae (aka phoenix worms/calciworms) for calcium? my beardie loves them. you can easily hand feed them to him (i use a pair of small wooden tweezer/tongs). they are a great source of calcium and are low in fat. they are nice and squishy and probably easier for him to eat than a cricket.

I haven't, but I can look into them. ^^ And a small update on Steve; he's starting to feel better! His beard was been black 24/7, he could be asleep and I could see the darkness on the sides of it, but when I went to feed him today it was normal! No darkness at all. He ate quite a bit of greens too.

oh this is so wonderful to hear that Steve is doing better!! I have been so very worried for him. And for you, too! I was in the business of wildlife rehab for many years, and know from long experience how stressful it can be. It is just devastating when we work hard to save one, and still lose him....and I will now admit, poor Steve looked like a very tough case, to me. You are not "out of the woods" yet, but any improvement is a great sign!

Steve is one lucky little guy, to have someone who was willing to step up for him....I pray daily for your continued success. It will be a long uphill road, but I also found that with those I had fought hardest to save, I had a very special bond. Your work and determination are your gift to Steve. His love and life will be his gift to you. And if the very worst should happen, you will always know that you made a big difference in his life....giving him the peace and love that all creatures deserve. It has been so wonderful to see this taking place. I cried for Steve when I saw that first picture of him...he was so emaciated and sick, and all due to human neglect! I am very compassionate towards both humans and animals, (perhaps too much sometimes) and it has been my lifelong philosophy that we humans were not intended to "rule over" other creatures, so much, as to be their caretakers. Your empathy and willingness to act upon your beliefs is very inspiring!

So happy that poor little Steve is improving! I always hesitate opening up the new posts on him, thinking that this could be it. What a joy it is to see more improvement each time so far. I will continue to pray that Steve makes it through all the obstacles ahead of him, and comes out strong and healthy in the end. May God bless you for all you are doing to help one of his precious creatures, and give you wisdom to know exactly what Steve needs to get back to being a healthy, happy guy. I can already see that he is loved by all of us!

Thank you! :) I'm just glad I was able to get him; even the vet thought it would be best to put him down. But now he's walking a bit and is already doing so much better and I've had him for two weeks. I'll have to see what happens when I have to give him back though :/ I'd much rather keep him. Though at least they had vets come in and check out the place at school, so they've been given guide lines for what the animals need to eat, how big cages need to be, how many in each, etc. I'm hoping they follow them.

Here's a picture of him today:

Still not looking the best, but better. He can get around a lot better (he got up there on his own) and still a lot more alert. His legs are thin and hips are still really prominent of course still but he has started to put on weight. (And the yellow stuff on the wall is reptaboost- he likes to try and run it off his nose sometimes and I didn't clean that spot yet)

Hello,

I am so happy to hear Steve is walking some & doesn't have a black beard now! :D
He must be feeling a lot better then, since he is starting to be more alert. You have done phenomenal with him in a short amount of time. He definitely deserves it & I am sure he is very grateful for your care also. You are very kind hearted to help him out so much too. It is so rewarding to watch them recover. You two will have a strong bond.
Personally, I don't think that they should be able to take him back. Steve is yours now. He most likely would not adjust well to going back anyway.

Keep us posted on him.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
