Double J my first Dragon

Long time lurker first time poster. I am currently disabled returning to work soon. My wife got me a bearded dragon for my Birthday in November. I have had a couple years off work recovering from my injuries so my wife thought a bearded dragon would help me keep busy and the little fella did. I just wanted to say Hi to a great community but I do have 1 question for everyone with a full time job and a family.

How do you do it? Between 3 feedings a day of 10 - 15 min buffet of crickets. Cleaning poo out of his tank each day. Cleaning the live crickets out of his cage so they do not bite him ect ect ect. I am not sure a full time job and have a healthy bearded dragon can coexist. I give him 2 hours a day once I go back to work I am unsure I can keep this pace up caring for him.

Hi, I'm a first time owner too. Well I should say our baby is my daughters but i help. Our lil guy Gizmo does great on its own. He/she gets fed crickets 3 times a day, morning abt 6 am then afternoon and evening abut 7 pm. We allow about 20 minutes for eating crickets then remove any stragglers (generally they get gobbled up). We also leave fresh greens for the munchies while we are away. I'm sure if you feed yours before work then after you get home your beardie will be fine just leave greens for snacking. I'm far from a pro but I'm learning. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response my wife is helping out a little more with him that helps. He is currently on a hunger strike I think he is getting ready for another shedding .

I do not feed mine 3 times a day. Nor do most people who work normal work hours. I am actually incredibly busy between work and crossfit. I am trying to compete in the open games this year :shock: so after work I am at the gym until about 7:30 or so every day. I squeeze in the afternoon feedings before I head to the gym. I feed dubias, I feed in the AM before work and in the evening before the gym. I leave collard greens for them every day to tide them over during the day time and they usually eat most of what I make up for them. I also mix in apple, butternut squash or something else along those lines every other day to keep them from getting bored with just greens. I have never had a problem feeding this way. As for keeping the tank clean, I clean my vivs about every 10 days. I have 1 single viv and then a stacked viv (4x2x2 for each habitat space) and then I also have a vertical viv for my panther chameleon. I basically clean a different viv ever 2-3 days. I also bath a different lizard every day so mine all gets a bath about every 4 days. This is just how I have always handled my reptiles while trying to maintain a normal life!
