Does this sound like a good feeding schedule? Just checking.

My beardie, Barbudo, is 1-2 years old an approx. 17". When I have him out again, I'll really measure him and post it on here.

Bugs:I have been feeding him crix and mealies (from Fluker Farms). 1" crix and 1/2" mealies. I have been feeding him about 20 crix and 15 mealies a day (I know they're high in fat and chitin, but they are so small compared to him).

Salads:Salads are always available; mostly collards, some kale, and one or two of the following: chopped carrots, green cabbage, green beans (chopped), and rarely frozen mixed veggies. Once I run out I get a totally new variety of greens (I follow the Beautiful Dragons Nutrition guide). I dump excess salad every 24 hours and replace it, usually a few hours before bug feeding. I mist it about twice a day, since he won't drink from an eye dropper. He usually eats most of his salad.

Supplementation: I keep his crix in a large bin with a screen top. I fill a smaller container with 40-50 crix and dust them with Rep-Cal Phosphorous-Free Calcium with D3 and Rep-Cal Herptivite. I dust them with calcium 3x per week and Herptivite once a week. The dusted crix last around 2 days.

I did all of my research and more, so I'm not concerned. I just want to double check with you guys. Does this sound like an ok schedule? I have read so much about feeding, but actually doing it is a much different ordeal.

I also have a question about the supplements: How covered should the crickets be? I've been doing it so that they are totally/visibly covered, and get powder on my fingers when I pick them up. Is this ok for Budo, or is too much concentrated supplements bad?

Bringing this back to the top of the page again. He lunges at the crickets so quickly, it seems like I'm starving him. Yet his belly is a lot rounder than it was when I got him. Does my feeding schedule sound ok?

You know how beardies are, they are little pigs, they eat as much as they can until they can't any more. This schedule sounda like a great schedule to be frank. Some people might disagree about using the mealies, but if he is 17" he should be ready to graduate to superworms (they will also fill him up faster so he doesn't go stir crazy when crickets get droped in. I think with the vitamins its fine the amount your using. I noticed when I watched closely that if there is any extra repti-vite or repti-cal on them when the beardie grabs them they vanish down the beardies gullet leaving a puff of dust. To answer your question directly I would'nt worry about overdosing the calcium, maybe if you did it everyday, twice a day then maybe it would be a problem, but the way you dust your crickets sounds like the way I pretty much do mine. Whatever sticks gets eaten if its too much it falls off. :blob8:

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
