Do your timers create resistance on your bulbs?

I noticed my bulbs would only register around 95 to 100 degrees when mounted to the timer. Thought maybe the bulb was getting worn out. Replaced the bulb and same effect. Then I plugged directly into the wall and BAM 106-108.

Does anyone know of a better, reasonable, timer than the 10 dollar sunbeam one at wally world?

I really don't have the schedule to be turning the lights on and off every morning and night. I also feel this has an effect on my juvenile beardies (Lemmy and Dimebag) digestion and growth. If it effects the basking bulb temp i'm sure it effects the frequency of the UVB bulb as well?

Any advice please and thanks :)

I have the zoomed 8 outlet timer, I can experiment with temps this weekend and get back to you. As far as UVB levels, I'm not equipped to measure, but logically it could make sense.
Do you have a reputable UVB bulb? Even if frequencies were 5-10%~ lower I think that would be sufficient

Smauggle,
Thanks for the reply. I don't have a way of measuring radiant UVB either. But if you notice any temp change, that would be a big help. For now, I will check out the ZooMed timer.

I switched back to the timer last night so it would at least turn on this morning and so far, I am getting correct readings. Maybe there was a burn in time for the new bulb I got? It's a 100w Powersun UV. Seems to be fine and my guys are way more active even with just a few degree increase.

Thanks for the help friend!

I've noticed that the MVBs I've tested do take a while to get up to full power in terms of heat. I have gotten the expected readings in my setup for both UVB (from a T5 tube) and consistent heat from basking bulb (ZooMed Repti Basking 150w) while connected to a timer (Westek grounded 2 outlet mechanical).

Hopefully it was just a one-off issue and your temps are alright. I plugged straight into my wall yesterday and manually turned on all my light (150w bask, repti 10.0 T5, 40w LED)
Consistent with any other day, 110 on my basking rock, 72ish cool side. This was after about a 90 minute warm up, which is usually when we serve breakfast :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
