Got my rescue girl about three weeks ago. I've been tweaking various things in her enclosure (she's in a 55gal) to make sure I have the ideal set up. Currently she's under a MVB and a 60w household light to up the temps. It's 100-105F in her basking spot and 75-80F on the cool side. I checked both with two different infrared guns so I am fairly sure that is accurate.
She has been gaping all day since I added the 60w bulb. She does *not* gape under just the MVB, but that only got up to 91F according to the infrared guns. Are some beardies just more comfortable at lower temps? Or should I get a 45w bulb and try to hit the 95F spot?
