Do any of you ever take your beardie out with you?

I took Ember in public for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I needed to go to PetSmart to get some flightless fruit flies because one of my green anole eggs hatched and the baby needed to eat. I had her sit on my shoulder with a leash on. She did good they all complemented on her color but of course they were out of flies. So we both went down to PetCo and luckily had some flies. There were two costumers looking at some of the reptiles and asked to hold her. I told them it was her first time in public and I was not sure how she would react. I did let them hold her and she was fine for a few minutes then got a bit squirmy and handed her back over to me. Ember was still moving around more than normal so I set her down on a step stool that was close and she seemed fine until she started to wiggle her butt and left a nice stool sample on their step stool  . I figured she would do something like that in public so I came prepared with paper towels, baggie and some hand sanitizer. I am just glad she did not do it on my shoulder.

Infowars!!!! I loved the pics, adorable!!!! :D

I did run to PetSmart with her since I've posted this and the guy that sold her to us wanted to hold, which I allowed, but as with the first time when my son's friends wanted to hold her she seemed extra clingy for the next day or two after so I'm thinking that she must not be comfortable with being handled by strangers. She didn't try to nip or anything, was just extra clingy, as in digging her nails more securely into us when we held her, the next couple of days.

We've hit a chilly patch again but when we warm up I'm open for more trips out with us, especially if I'm just running out to get crickets.

Ours is 15 inches long and gets cold if he's out of the tank after 15mins. How old are these lil travelers? My daughter is dying to take him with us but he gets cold! She wants him to sleep on her pillow but I am too scared he'll fall off the bed or she'll roll over on him! You slaves are brave!! Ours is 7 mos old.

I've been taking Jace and Zy out since they were 5months-6 months old. If you get worried that he might get cold, you can wrap him in a blanket or hoodie. They're good out of the vivs and heat for a while.

Anyway, does anyone else travel with or take their beardie places with them? I will say we have hawks in the area and every time we were out of the car I made sure he was securely wrapped up in the kitchen towel with just his little head sticking out, I would die if he was picked up by a hawk!!!!! A couple of times when we've been up in the 90's this year I've taken him out back to bask but I keep him on my chest and I keep my hand half way over him, so just his head and upper chest area are sticking out. I would hope that even a hawk wouldn't swoop down at my chest!!! Maybe I'll have to let him bask in his viv just to be on the safest side!

Mine LOVES the car! I got her when she was 8 weeks old and from time to time I would take her for a ride with me. It's so cute to watch her while she is checking everything out. lol She's infatuated with other cars! I was worried she would try to run around the car too, but she never has....too much to see. ;)

I got a harness for her so I could let her walk around in the grass (which also amazes her...she will lick the same blade of grass 10 times. lol) but I worry about birds too. I stay right by her). The sun is great for them!! In the mornings if it's warm enough I do the same thing you do....sit on a chair and let her sit on my chest to get some rays. ;) She just loves it. Does your beardie like to watch planes/jets going by? It's so cute when they turn their little heads to the side so they can check everything out. :)

Also, something I forgot to mention: Jace is a very good car rider. Zy is not. To calm her down when she gets anxious I put a blanket or hoodie over her and she sleeps. Zy does not like the birds and neither seem to be eh about the planes... Haven't had many when I take them out and have had no jets. My worry is fireworks... Though I would love to take them out to Stanley Park for the fireworks, I might not.

I live near an airport (lucky me. lol)...I don't think fireworks would be a good idea. The sound alone would really be scary to a beardie. Just my opinion. :)

I wish I could figure out her infatuation with planes. lol And birds...and a leaf blowing by...you get the point. ;) The cottonwood, fuzzy stuff in the air just amazes her too. (I guess it doesn't take much. )

Birds I can understand because beardies are pray to vultures an hawks.
Yeah, I thought about the fireworks and realized bad idea. The closest they will get to them are the stupid *****s sending them off almost once a week starting last week... Despite it being illegal in my state.

Oh I know. You're right, it starts about a month before. 2 year ago I was sitting outside, under the awning and one came right down on top of it...if I hadn't been under cover, it would be have hit me. Makes me wish I was a cop when this $%$# starts. :x I'm about a mile away from a college (University of Buffalo) and there are kids EVERYWHERE. It's brutal this time of the year. I wish they would all go home!!!

I hear you. I've been tempted to call the cops many times because most mornings I'm up at 5am from work and these people are right down the street from me.

I've called. They can't do anything unless they "catch them in the act". :banghead:

Drive by and they will catch them! I don't mind it for the 4th of July or maybe a day before and after. Months before is ridiculous.

The one guy doing them in our neighborhood last year IS a cop. He told a neighbor, go ahead and call, they won't do anything to me. I want to call just to see what happens because he works for the city and we live in the county. I *get* professional courtesy but at the very least they might make him stop! :x

My beardie is about 4-4.5 months. The day I took her out it was warm (upper 80's/low 90's) and I kept her close to my body to keep her warm. She did fine in the car. She likes to curl up on my shoulder/neck towards the back of my neck under my hair. I probably could have left her under there and no one would have known she was with me but after my sons friend wanted to hold her she was a little freaked and she was digging her nails in pretty deep. :p

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
