Hey everybody I went to the Dixie Reptile Show in Birmingham this weekend so I thought I would let everyone know how it went. I went with a friend of mine who loves reptiles as much as I do and we had a blast! I saw so many different reptiles, some more common reptiles weren't there and some reptiles that I had never heard of before were. I saw these huge frogs that looked like they were camouflaged as dead leaves. They were really cool I was kinda tempted to get one. They were probably as big as my hand, granted my hand is small but still that's big for a frog ! I saw alot of snakes I hadn't seen before. There was this one, it was called a rainbow something, it was really cool looking. When the light hit it's scales they would like turn colors, I can't think of the right word to describe it but it was awesome looking! I was surprised when I asked the guy if it was a constrictor and he said yes. I really do love snakes I just really don't like mice ! I wish I had a man at home so he could feed it and I could play with it ! lol Another snake I saw was a red tail green rat snake. Another really pretty snake with a beautiful green color. I know this is dragon forum but I know some people are interested in other reptiles as well. Their were also chinchillas and spiders and lots and lots and lots of snakes.....lol. I saw some bunnies for $8 and I thought oh how cute and only $8 that is cheap ! lol Until I realized they were selling them for food !! yuck ! Poor bunnies !! Thier was another vendor there that had nothing but Crested Geckos and they were all really beautiful. I was tempted, but I resisted. lol I am not up on all the care for cresties. Let's see ..... what else :?: Oh yes, and their were some beardies ! lol My friend was really wanting a female so we were really looking for a nice one. We saw one sub adult that was really nicely colored and not a bad price. We saw some that I really liked that were Chris Allen Red x snow they were gorgeous! I really wanted one but they were out of my price range. Although they were worth the price. We came up on another table and he had several bins of various sized beardies and I saw this one in a bin with some other babies and it caught my eye immediately! It was so pretty and really stood out from its tank mates. We asked about several different ones and my friend turned and looked at me for advice and I immediately pointed to the one that I was secretly wanting. So after comparison shopping around we ended up back at the table with the little gem I spotted and when my friend held her it was all over. Even though I kinda wanted her I knew I really didn't need another dragon and my friend would give her a good home. We are not 100% sure she is a female because she is very young, maybe 8 weeks, but my friend bought her anyway. Her husband really liked it too. So anyway sorry for the extremely long post but I wanted to tell the whole story ! lol And of course I have pics ! She is a really pretty yellow with orange stripes on her back and some orange lines on her face and tiger bars on her sides. She is really pretty and she wasn't a bad price either!
Her tail and the tip of her nose are in shed, it will be interesting to see what her tail looks like.
My friend lives close to Birmingham and they have a show once a month. I think she will probably go again. Unfortunately for me spring and summer are coming and I will be working every saturday so it will be fall before I get to go again LOL ok I am done thanks for reading !
