So, the staph Dino has is MRSA. Vet has treated a chameleon who had it in its' eyes too with the chloramphenicol ointment prescribed to Dino. She's also had some furry ones with it (don't know if it was of the eyes, but she's dealt with it before. That's what's important... experience!) MRSA is no joke, I know. I had a nice talk with her. I sent her a long e-mail for her to review and she answered all my questions during our phone call, making me feel much MUCH better about the whole situation. Gotta move her back into the small tank again. Dino's tank will be washed out weekly with hot, soapy water. Clorox wipes can be used to wipe it down daily. Back to paper towel substrate. I hate putting her back in that stupid little thing. She's got no room to move around.
Hopefully, it won't be for as long as it was before. It will not effect her eyeball or her vision. The combination of meds she's on right now could be affecting her appetite. My son and I got some Carnivore Care into her tonight. We're like old pro's now getting her mouth open and getting those syringes in and out...1.2.3. Done. Couldn't do it without my boy though! :love5: Oh, UV kills MRSA on the surfaces! Sounds crazy but, that's what SHE SAID... I have to look that up! I don't know how close the light needs to be to the infected surfaces sooo, I'll still be wiping everything down daily. I have to look a lot of things up. So, moving forward with another fight for Dino. I should have the ointment by Thursday. It was supposed to have been shipped out today. She said I should see improvement in about a week after starting it.
Thank you all for offering advice and looking things up for us. :book: You're all so kind and caring!! It means so much... I was prepared to hear the worst today and I know all of you would have been "here" for me. It's comforting to know when the going gets tough, you guys "get going" in the best way possible! :love10: Opening a new chapter of Dino's story. I will keep you posted, as always.
