She's back to being "a lot of work" but, hopefully, this will be the LAST problem she has. So frustrating. Hangin' in there... I left a message for the vet on Friday asking her why Dino needs to continue the Baytril. The receptionist/vet tech was going to ask her the question and call me back. Never heard back. Maybe she forgot or got busy or something. I'll call back again tomorrow. If long term antibiotic use is part of the problem, I would think we should get her off anything she doesn't really "need" to be on. I also don't know if the culture showed something else that she needs the Baytril to treat.
She doesn't look very happy about being in the little tank again. Kinda drab lookin' in color. I had just put a new wood piece in the big tank and she looked SO BRIGHT and happy hanging out on it under her light! She was the BRIGHTEST I had ever seen her, in spite of the eye infection. I think the pieces I have in there hold too much heat and she doesn't like them very much. She's not sitting on them. She's in the other corner so, too hot. I moved the light last night but she's still over there this morning. The wood piece doesn't heat up that way. *sigh* Adjusting, adjusting. The difference in the little tank this time is that I took the screen off and I'm using the clamps. I knew that screening filtered the light, but WOW... I might hafta change the bulb to a 50 watt. I'm trying to eliminate as much "touching" of surfaces and what not as possible. That's why I'm trying to work without the screen top. Always a challenge with Dino. Still love her to pieces though!

I called the vet again today, left another message about the reason for continuing the Baytril. "Kerri" said she will have her get back to me via e-mail. I swapped the 75 out for a 50 watt bulb and the temp is 101.5 at the hottest spot! YAY! I plopped her over there yesterday afternoon and she stayed so, I think she's happier now. Her color looks better too. I like to call her my "Mood Lizard"... she changes colors like those rings we used to wear years ago! I weighed her last night too and she's up 20 grams. Good, good, GOOD! :blob5: Still waiting to hear back from the Doc. Maybe when I get home, she'll have eaten on her own... stay tuned.

I'm glad to hear the positive news, although her condition is serious, there's always hope that this little champion will defeat this new opponent. You're doing a great job :)

So, Doc e-mailed me this morning. There is another bacteria present that is sensitive to Baytril so, that' why she's staying on it. Yesterday when the kids got home, she was hanging out at the cool end of the tank. My son put some gloves on and moved her to the warm side at the order of his big sister! She won't pick Dino up but, clearly she's concerned about her! He checked back 30 minutes later and she went back over there. I checked the temps when I got home. It was about 103. Too warm for Miss Dino, apparently. I moved the light up a little. That must've been enough of a drop because she's on her ramp and under the lights today. I thought/hoped maybe she ate on her own yesterday but, maybe not. She might've just run through it. It looked like there was some missing from the dish but, she hasn't touched her food today. :? I'll syringe her again tonight. So, there's the update so far...

Hello Sue,

I am glad they let you know about the other bacteria present, as to why they are keeping her on the Baytril. I just didn't want her continually on it for no reason.
It sounds like you have the temperatures all figured out for Dino, the crazy lizard. At least her appetite has been good & she has gained some weight, too.

Keep us posted on her.

Tracie & AHBD... I got the honey today! :blob5: I put some on her face on the under-eye areas and also on the areas of her mouth that are still a little pink and not 100% healed yet. Thank you both for your expert tutelage on honey!! :study: She's still about the same, still not eating on her own. She's not batting at her eyes anymore so I can only guess that they're feeling better. Gonna take her in this week, gotta call Monday for an appointment. Off to Maine next weekend, we'll be dragging Dino and her case of stuff along with us! :laughing6: I will update you on what the vet has to say after we see her.
Dino said to thank everyone for the well wishes... *armwaves at you all*

Hi Sue, I didn't realize you had a thread here about Dino, hope she's feeling better soon, such a trouper and you've been through such a battle with her. Glad you got the honey, hopefully that helps, too. Good luck with the vet and have a good vacation. Dino sure has a wonderful family!

Hi Deb! Yup, been here for a while! I signed up here in 2008 when I had questions with my first beardie, Spike. Thank you, we hope so too!! I won't dare board Dino anywhere, ever again! She comes along for the trip with us now. It's not a big deal anymore. She's got a little tank up there that she's fine in for long weekends. She naps for the whole 3.5 hour ride cuz she's a little cool. When we get there, we leave her in the truck, with the heat, on until her tank warms up in the house! :laughing6:

Sounds great, I haven't read all your thread yet, will do that tomorrow. Don't know how I missed your thread, sorry, but I've found it now! I have one, too, but it's very long, here's the link. If you have a minute to check it out, just look at the last few pages, it's almost 190 pages long now, I started it in 2010 when I got Leo. viewtopic.php?f=49&t=123266&start=2820. I'm glad Dino goes with you when you get away, it's good for her, I'll bet!

Dino ate on her own today out of her dish!!! :blob8: :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: Finally! I stopped in after picking my son up from school today to put some ointment on her eyes as I didn't do it this a.m. before work because she still had a lot on there from last night before lights out. Well, she wasn't in the mood for the globbing. She bolted down her ramp and found her food dish! That must've been a pleasant surprise for her because she decided to take 3 bites!! She's been brighter over the last couple of days too! She must finally be feeling better!! She hasn't eaten on her own since before New Years!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
