First off, I, just like all the others, want to say what an amazing job you have done with Dino ! We throw the word " amazing " around, but it really fits in this case. I hope she lives a good life after her brave and unfair battle with this horrible condition. As far as gaining weight/ brumation question, they don't automatically gain, it's generally from eating surplus food....and some dragons just maintain an average weight when they go to sleep, not really spiking in weight at all. Her metabolism has slowed now, so it may very well be the meds. she's on and also just the fact that she is adult now, without the burning energy of a dragon who's body is utilizing every gram of nutrient as part of their building blocks of growth. She may not get sleepy at all, if she does, just keep her lights + heat at normal so she can't really brumate , her meds. can still be given, and she can be observed + handled as usual.

:love5: Thanks guys!
AHBD-Thank you for your input. I don't THINK she's getting ready to brumate. I've never experienced it, so I needed to throw that out there JUST IN CASE! The information you've given me is definitely good to have! Thank you! I need to keep an eye out for the signs anyway. I really can't let her go into full brumation while on the meds. She isn't any more sleepy than usual. She's acting the same as she always does. It was the weight gain that began to make me & the vet tech "wonder". She's also in a small tank (29 high) and doesn't get much exercise either. I moved her to that a while ago, during her illness. I think I may go get her a 40 breeder. I can't put her in the 75 gallon while she still has the YF. Her tank needs to be wiped out daily and thoroughly cleaned every week. I just don't have the time or the energy to do that with the 75. I've put her in it to let her "wander around" a bit, but she doesn't. She just sticks to the tree that's in there, under the lights. So much for that idea. She only gets exercise when she's swimming in her bath or on the "beardie treadmill"... I'll post that next!

Hello Sue,

That is wonderful news! Dino looks georgeous & is healing, finally. :blob5:
It is ok if she slows down a little but definitely try to keep her up & around for the majority of the day. If you feel she is slowing down some, you can shorten her day a few hours to an 8 hour day so she can sleep a little more. As long as she is up long enough each day to bask & get her meds & fluds as well as digest any food she will be fine sleeping a little extra.
I am happy to hear she has gained some weight! It looks like the superworms have really helped her out a lot. Her weight is fine so I don't think she is in any danger of being overweight!
I definitely want to see the blood test results when you get them in. Thanks. :D

Hi Tracie!
She does go hide an hour or so before her lights go out. I was going to start setting them back to shut off a little earlier anyway... Falls here! I already set them to come on later in the morning so, she gets some extra shut-eye that way too. I can definitely ask the vet to send me the lab results if you wanna take a look. I will e-mail them to you. Vets closed over the weekend, so I'll call for those on Monday.

Glad you guys enjoyed watching "Getting Fit with Dino!" Here are some pictures. This was after her bath, I cleared off most of the SSD cream so I could have a good look at what was underneath. Becoming nice & white! I'm pretty sure the white is going to remain as scarring. But, I don't care, as long as it's not scabby and raw. She looks waaaay better this way! And, as you know, the link at the bottom of my posts gives you more pics to see if you want to! I tend to take a bunch of each spot. I only post a few at a time here.

Ear sore still persists but, the rest is coming along nicely! Lots of white on this side!

Still a little pink on this side but, SOOOO much better than when all that was first debrided.

This is healing up very quickly! I was so afraid she was going to lose her "thumb" at one point!

This lesion, near her vent, started to come off after getting caught on a towel. It was lifted enough that I could see the nice, white beneath. I removed it after her bath, while it was a little soft. She's shedding right now too! =)

WOW! All I can say is that Dino looks amazing, all the care and hard work you put into Dino shows. Those lesions are healing up very nicely and glad they are finally lifting up off the vent area. Her whole look has changed, her eyes are so much brighter and Dino looks like a happy lizard. You have done a wonderful job with Dino.

Thanks Tonja and Kalyn and best wishes to you, Kalyn, on your future arrival! That's really, REALLY exciting! :blob5:
Things around here can change quickly with Dino... Her left eye has an infection. It is red, swollen, runny, goopy and crusting shut. When I cleared the crust away with warm water and eye wash, she still didn't want to open it. Took her to the vet yesterday. Her bottom lid is pretty much non-existant on the left side from the fungus. Her eye isn't properly draining because the water line and tear duct isn't there. Vet said she's more susceptible to infection there because of it. So, doc flushed eye out. Lots of pus and gunk came out but, she started opening it after. We are now on Ciproflaxin antibiotic drops and Metacam for pain relief along with our daily med. Just add those to the daily regimen for about 10 days. I wish she could get better as fast as a problem develops.

Aw, poor girl. So sad to hear any new trauma for this fighter. I just wanted to mention that I had a baby that came out of the incubator with a nasty scratched infected eye, obviously done by another hatching sibling. It gooped up and was very grossly swollen. A baby that tiny can't even be taken for treatment [ an hour to my vet ] and I Googled raw honey for eye infection, since I know it's safe for just about everything. Sure enough, the raw honey healed that eye in literally 2-3 days. I never would have believed it, if I hadn't seen it myself.....but the honey MUST be unpasteurized. It's a natural antibacterial/ antibiotic. I diluted equal parts with warm water, and applied with a Q-tip. The baby never flinched whwn I used it either. Just thought I'd tthrow that out there ....raw honey is even supposed to be good for fungus.

Wow, that's pretty cool. Little baby was lucky you had some tricks up your sleeve! I've heard lots of good things about bee pollen too. I keep meaning to get some. I still haven't. One of these days I will!

Hello Sue,

How is Dino doing?
I hope her eye is doing better soon! Poor girl, she has gone through so much already. :(

Hi Tracie,
She's doing a little better today with the eye. At least she can open it now so, that's improvement. She couldn't do that 2 days ago. :( No, she doesn't have her usual appetite. I don't know if that's cuz of the pain med, the pain in her eye, the fact that her dish of food is on her "bad side" field of vision, or what. She gobbled up some supers tonight so, I know she's hungry. She just won't go over to her dish. She's on the pain med for 3 - 5 days. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I'm not worried if she goes a day or two with little eating. If it gets to be more than 3 or 4 days, then I'll worry. Thanks for checkin' up on her!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
