Well, I debrided more off her face tonight. I wasn't really planning on this happening. I just wanted to "see" if I could get a little more off and the whole piece lifted when she struggled while I was trying to snip a chunk off with the scissors. So it's all off on the bad side. THEN when I unwrapped her from the towel, the piece that was on her foot was GONE. :shock: Came off during her struggle. OMG. I'm glad but not at the same time. Her foot doesn't look like it was ready to come off. It's pretty raw. I think the portion that I initially was going to snip off her face was ready, but not the whole piece. Was still soft and gushy near her nostril. Anyway, she flinched and batted me quite a few times while I was putting the SSD on it. It's obviously painful. Now she looks like one of those weird monkeys with no fur on their face. God, I wish this nightmare would just be OVER!

This one came off a few days ago, it looked just like the picture. Nice and dry, not raw at all. Makes me think maybe the meds are working.

Hi Tracie,

She seems to be doing okay. Still has her appetite and has actually gained a little weight through this process so far! We are doing another round of ceftz shots again. I think the vet just wants to do them to prevent any secondary infection. I just hate how she looks right now. So far, so good. Thanks for checking in on us! <3

I just have to say it again. You and Dino and the bravest folks I know. The one patch healed. The rest will heal, too. Just so hard to get to the other side, isn't it? You both have my most positive thoughts and heartfelt prayers coming your way. Esther

Will her scales grow back?

I've seen other beardies with fungus and sadly, no, their scales don't grow back. They end up with scaleless, white patches.
