You have got to be joking thats awfull I take it what you have been using isnt working then? Must be something out there in mean time ask your vet about "nascent iodine" can be used orally or on the skin but oraly would get it into the blood

Heard my vet mention it I think either that or i read in here somewher very effective in fighting fungus or bacteria!

Good luck i have my fingers crossed for you!

Hi ignore my message i phoned and asked my vet and he was talking about supplementing for dogs with on going issues and that with lizard being cold blooded and small it would be hard to give a dosage that small to have any benefit because they are cold blooded so it would be impossible to know if it would be beneficial

Sorry :(

Hi

Heres the link you were after

viewtopic.php?f=45&t=175761

Tried giving the 5ml critical care and water as addvised by the vet and i failed, its upsetting as he likes the taste but 5ml in one go is way to much and it needs to be thicker but vet said it has to be like water :( if it was thicker my boy would lap it up no problem

Sigh!

Hello Sue,

How is Dino doing today?
If you need help with compounding the meds when you get them, let me know.
I am thinking about you both.

Well, I got the meds! WHEW! OMG, that was NERVE RACKING!! The vets office searched around and found a pharmacy that had it. I picked it up yesterday. It's over an hour to get there but at lease I GOT IT. The pharmacist told me he had the injectable liquid and he made it from that. It's strawberry flavored. That's a BONUS. I'm hoping maybe that will make it easier for her to take it as she absolutely HATED the intraconazole. :? She wouldn't swallow it, just let it sit in her mouth! Silly dragon. I was at an amusement park all day yesterday, which was about half way to the pharmacy. So, I left my kids with my sister to go and get it! That made the ride easier to take too. She will get her first dose tonight. Didn't get home until 11pm last night. She was sound asleep then. The meds cost me $198.00. That's easier for me to swallow too! I'll keep you posted on how she does with it, of course. Thanks to everyone who is sending us well wishes and prayers... please keep them going. If this med doesn't work, it's the end of the line. This is the only other alternative to intraconazole. I should start seeing some change in a week or so, if not, back to the vet and then I don't know what...

Interesting, my vet said not too thick but slightly thick was fine for critical care. is there a way you can do critical --the 5ml over the course of the day? thats what we did for ours and it helped him for a bit. Did she give you the green or red bag of critical care type food? (we were given red originally and learned green one was actually slightly better0
Hoping these meds help your dragon

Dino's doing okay on the new medicine so far. Still fighting with us to take it, but we get it in there. Slowly debriding the lesion/scabs off. Not fun. And the smell....ugh, it's awful. Poor thing. :( I've been told to debride all the lesions, her foot too... I'm afraid to do that one. She flinches when I touch any part of it. Might have to have the vet do that one. I think she'll need some numbing to be able to touch it. She's got an appointment scheduled for September 5th. If I don't see any change after 7 days on the meds, we will go back before then. 7th dose will be on the 30th. Just wanted to give you guys an update. Not much else going on...just waiting to see some improvement. *Fingers Crossed*

Pulling for you and Dino. Im praying the new meds work for him bless his beardie heart. You are doing such a fantastic job with him and I agree with you about the foot. If he is sensing pain in it when you touch it, maybe its best to leave it alone and let the vet debrid it. All of this has to be so hard on him, poor baby. Gentle squishy hugs Dino.

Poor Dino! :( I think this is THE most awesome thing to do. You're treating her like your kid- which is exactly what I think people should be willing to do for their pets.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and kind words of encouragement! We really need them! <3
Well here we are: Day 7. No improvement, still getting worse and spreading around that left side, near her eye especially. Her foot is god-awful. Problem: Daughter is getting Senior Portraits tomorrow (private photographer & make-up artist, I HAVE to go AND I'm slammed at work). Not going to be able to bring Dino in until her appt on the 5th. Vets closed all weekend, don't open again til Tuesday. So, til then I'll just keep giving her the meds and globbing SSD cream everywhere. Still trying to debride all the facial areas, little by little. It's not easy, especially near both of her eyes. SSD can't get in her eyes either sooooo, yeah, if I get it off, can't put that there. Dunno. Getting complicated. I am gonna call the vet tomorrow anyway with all my dilemmas. They called to check on her beginning of the week. We weren't at day 7 yet. I told them they would have to debride that foot. I can't get near it without her jerking, twitching, jumping. Forget it. She needs numbing to get that done. I also think they wanted to remind me that if I wanted to have her seen, Friday would be the only day before the weekend. That's out. Anyway...that's what's happening here. I wish I had better news for ya's. :(

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
