Hello!

I want to remind you guys of something.
According to some statistics, dehydration is the no 1 (YES No. 1) reason baby beardies die in captivity.
That is why I would like to share some important info! :!:
Please see the section here
http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Dehydration.html
NOTE: Do not exceed the recommended amounts of liquid described in the table on the link!

If you suspect your beardie is dehydrated, you can try many things:
1. Spray her with water
2. Bathe her and sprinkle the water in front of her
3. Poor water slowly on her nose
4. Make sure she has fresh water all the time in the viv.
5. A recommendation is to buy a hamster water bottle thingie, they cost around 2 USD probably (1.5 EUR) and ur dragon might learn to drink from it
6. Feed her with nice fresh exotic fruits like cactus fruit, squash, cucumber (occasionally) as this is loads of water in
7. If you cannot get your dragon to drink on its own, here comes my personal tips: :D
... By sleepy time, take your dragon to a comfy spot for yourself. Mine is my sofa. I wrap my dragon in a soft blanket and in no time she falls asleep. I keep petting her on the head a little, since they like this. If she gets nervous, I cover her up with the blanket and cover her from above from the light in the roof. She calms down and just goes to sleep again. Now I tries this excellent mix of:

a) Good Quality or Bottled water
b) 1/4th pure apple juice (NO sugar, NO preservatives, just plain apple juice!)
c) A little bit of powder from Dehydration packs for infants, easily found in pharmacies

I take a small syringe (2.5 ml) without the needle and simply pet her on the head and drip it on the nose. Miracously, she seemed to enjoy the petting as much as the drinking part and finally I got her to drink on her own!
The trick is to get your dragon sleepy as this assures that she is calm. Just drip it gently on the very front of the head where the mouth is, and hopefully your dragon will try a bit. If this does not help:

You can also grab her softly around the water reserves (someone explain this better?) on the head, and gently grab the "beard" underneath the chin and just slightly bend open the mouth. This is also a trick for force feeding. Does your dragon fight it? The dragon is not calm enough, do not force anything! Take it easy and BE AS CONFIDENT AS A VETERINARY (imagine urself), and your dragon will be comfortable with you!

Notate that the website above
(beautifuldragons) has an excellent store as well with two very very good products for all beardies:
1. acidopliliz+
2. Reptiaid

They also have nibbles for syringes, so your dragon can bite down on them while you force feed (or trying to give liquid).
Just my 5 dime, (just my recommendations and tips!) isnt that the saying in the US? :)

See you!

A small question regarding force feeding and forcing liquid:
If they are almost asleep, could they actually get it in their lungs and choke etc. ?
Please advice!
Many thanks! :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
