What is the largest and longest bearded dragon out there.

Meathead, JOrtiz's dragon is 650 grams and at least 24 inches long.

My Diablo just weighed in today at 640 grams and is 22 inches long. He is about 15 months old and he is still growing. He isn't fat and my vet said he was the biggest beardie she has seen. He doesn't have any German Giant in him that I know of.

I was just curious if anyone else had a really large beardie. Please share....I would like to see how big they can get.

It used to be a normal vitticeps dragon was 18 to 24 inches, with the German Giant (originally a vitticeps and barbata cross) running up to 28 inches. Now with all the breeding of dragons that are way too young or too small, (under the 18 month old, 20 inch long, 500 gram minimums) there are so many available at sub-par sizes, down to 12 or 13 inches for full grown adults that aren't even Rankins (a much smaller breed) or Vittikins (the Rankins vitticeps cross.) :angry5: I know I have heard of several dragons weighing in over 900 grams, but I think that they are pretty rare at this point. Personally, i'd love to have a black or very darkly colored two pound beardie! :laughing6:
The cat would definitely think twice about that!

Yeah, he is big. I never thought he would get this big! He is soo sweet though, a big snuggle bug. Some people are actually afraid of him, but he would never bite. Here he is!

Thanks for sharing the pic!!! He is one handsome dragon. I am hoping my Gimli will "stretch" out a little more as he is only 1 year old as of June 1st.

Hi Keschete

It looks like Diablo will be a pretty big guy when he is done, as he will actively grow for another nine months. He really is beautiful, and may fill out more in addition to adding length. I think Tatsu of Tatsu's Army is something around 750 grams. I don't think he is more than that, but am sure the data is on the site somewhere. There may be very small growth beyond two years, as a friend with a PhD in Herpetology told me they never completely stop growing. He may add another quarter to half inch over his two years old length through the span of his life. Fib added three inches between age 1 and age 2, and so far another quarter inch in the past four years, now 20 and 3/4 inches. He will never be as big as Diablo, but he is my first and biggest dragon. :love5:

Hi Sara, they aren't adult until they reach two years old so Gimli has plenty of time to add some more size as well! :laughing6:

Welcome, donnaj867  (and jeritta as well! ) if you haven't done so yet, say hello on the introductions forum, as there are a great group waiting to say hello to you there. Post pictures when you can, everyone here melts over beardie pictures! :love5:

Thanks to everyone responding. It is really neat to see how big some of these guys actually get.

Diablo is from Bloodbank and they are great breeders. His dad is a pretty big guy. He was hatched in March last year, so he does have some growing left. It is just really funny, seeing him so large. I guess I didn't realize exactly how large he was until he went to the vet. She was really amazed. She kept telling me how big he was.

I think husbandry has a lot to do with it. Great food, lights, space to grow in a good viv, all of that factors in the whole equation. Plus, I am an excellent slave to my beardies :) Just got in huge supply of hornworm eggs and tiny babies. Cost a fortune to have them sent overnight (bc of the heat), but they are happily eating their fresh hornworm chow and growing like crazy!!! :blob5: :blob8:

Genes and husbandry go hand in hand on how large a dragon gets. My Magick is 20" with a 4" tail loss and now weighs 900 grams. She has been up to a 1000 at one time. She is a little over 5 y/o and has german giant. Jada is 2 y/o and 19-1/2" long and weighs 650 grams. Semi is 5 y/o with only a half a tail at 15" and he is 600 grams.

Biggest dragon I have ever seen in person is from a breeder in North Carolina that is still working with a pure GG line. Her largest female was 27 inches and 1300 grams. There are monsters out there. Just not many left. Everyone wants them smaller and compact now because "big breeders" started popping up with dwarfs due to poor breeding practices and tagged them as needing less housing requirements and less food.

Saw this guy the other day at the reptile shop..They said someone dropped him off the day I went and they had told the pet shop owner that they only fed the poor thing supers and wax worms for as long as they had had him. Now I am not kidding this thing reaches 30" EASY and its head is larger than my FIST(and I have a pretty large hand). It makes the other adults in the tank look like little teenagers .__. Now you can't see how obese it is but if I had gotten a better picture I could show you that it literally has about another 1-1 in a half inches added to its width :/

Our Kinno is 24 inches and 600g he was 650g intill he went into a hormonal tornado lol He was 14 inches at 3 months when i got him. He hit 24 inches at i think 10 months. No GG blood in him. I think hes done growing tho hes a yr and a half and hasnt grown any except fatter.I can see why people want the smaller beardies. Cause handling him can be tricky do to his length. I get scratched here and there because hes so long. And he can eat like a bottomless pit. Im so happy we build him a 4x2x2 before we got him because he would never fit in a 40gal breeder thats for sure.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
