curious about their vision

do they see by tracking movements? I know they have poor depth perception. I've noticed many times a cricket that is right in their site range. They just ate the one right next to it. They appear to star it down for a while, but then turn and go after another cricket. At first I thought they were waiting to see if it was alive, but I've seen them eat dead ones before. IDK maybe they have to be in the mood for dead ones, or it's the excitement of the hunt. I'm just curious.

I wonder too. I love when they tilt their head to see the sky...can they really see that far to see the airplanes/clouds? :?

I'd be very curious to know just how well they can see, and also their hearing abilities.

MIne watches me from more than 10 feet away and tracks my movements. I can see him though a window as I come onto the porch, and when he hears me open the door, he flips around on his perch in time to watch me come through the door.

Oh they can see airplanes for sure! I took Bob outside a few days ago and a big plane went by overhead. It was pretty far up. He saw it and freaked out, open mouth and all puffed up. Apparently he thought the plane was going to eat him!

i took Sunshine to the memorial day perade, and she watched intentely as the floats crept by. :shock:

she also stares :shock: up at the sun. she will be on my shoulder staring at the sun and when i turn her head turns so she can still focus on the sun

in the morning she will stare :shock: at me in my bed from the corner of her tank and do that till i turn on her light. a little impatient! :roll:

lol my Beardie doesn't like airplanes either. Everytime one goes by he flattens to the ground, tilts his head like 90 degrees, and watches till it's gone. lol
