Edit - hi, just updated subject title as unfortunately our beardy has passed away. We appreciate all the support we got from everyone! I will stay on the forum and we will most likely get another beardy but not anytime soon.. No beardy can replace our Sydney!!
Hi all, i know it’s my first post and unfortunately not a nice one.
Our little beardy is 3,5 years old and suddenly got very ill, we have already taken trips to the vet and got her on different meds.
She started shedding her tail and head which usually makes her a bit grumpy and give her a lack of appetite.. she basically didn’t touch her veggies but did eat one/two lokust a day. After a week it started to look more like signs of respiratory infection so we took her to the vet straight away (reptile specialist, recommended in the area). Luckily no signs of RI but they expected she might be carrying eggs. She obviously felt the need to poo at the vet so they got a sample fresh from the oven, this came back she had (minimal) parasites so we got meds for this.
She showed signs of improvement and started eating again however her shed was turning very bad so we went back to the vet again which concluded fungus infection. We are devestated as she is just going downhill quickly these days.
Got her on multiple meds, both oral and injection, force feeding protein and daily bathing/cleaning. Again she was showing signs of improvement (her skin looks almost normal again) but yesterday she took like 10 steps back.. pooed, trew up and doesn’t let anyone get close, she has lost weight and is now constantly sleeping. Funny enough she can still run/climb like crazy which also amazed the vet, she is a strong little beardy otherwise.
Is there anything else anyone can recommend...? We don’t want to force her to be alive and maybe even in pain just for our sake but we also want to keep that option as our very last option...!
We have been reviewing her set up with multiple people and made sure we triple checked everything, replaced bulbs just for the sake of it... we have an appointment with the vet on Thursday where we would have to make a decision what to do next if no signs of improvement....
