I had 5 crickets in a plastic bag yesterday. Today morning I went to check them, but they weren't there. They made a little hole in the bottom of the bag and they escaped. I can't find them anywhere :banghead: What should I do? Can they do harms in the house (ex. eating carpet)? How can I find them?

P.S Sorry if i've put it in the wrong topic, but I don't know where to put it

Somtimes I drop one and it's makes a dash for the nearest dark place, if I can't catch them they usually turn up somewhere in the room a day or to later. I don't think theres any harm to be caused, not to my knowledge anyway :) just the thought of bugs loose in the house.

Thanks. I will try to look in dark places. I am freaked out too by the idea that I have 5 crickets in my house

I have a dozen or more crickets running throughout my house, at all times. I simply accept it, and I have glue traps all over to catch the bulk of them. I have many dragons though, with front opening cages. That is a bummer, but I must ask, why just 5 crickets at a time?

Ive had dozens and dozens escape. So long as my cat gets them before they start chirping and interupting the TV, I dont realy bother.... And the ones that are REALY LOUD chirpers tell you where they are all by themselves :)

and this why I have my 20 gal cricket cage on a small table and an old kiddy pool under it. They jump and I just pic them up when im ready. They cant get out of the little pool. After my son allowed a bunch to escape the wifey brought it home. ha ha

HAHAHA that stinks that they got away but if that is the worst that you have had happen, well, it's not so bad.

The only real reason we worry about crickets getting out is we live in an apartment and they do pest control. I wonder sometimes if they come and spray and a cricket is exposted to any insecticide then my beardies find them in the house and eat them, it would make them sick. So when we find a stray loose cricket we just throw them out the door. Freedom, yay!

And here is my little horror story: *sigh* We got teeny little pinhead crickets for a baby house gecko that we found and had put in with my anoles. Well, we put about 100 pinhead crickets into the 15g tank and they all climbed the plants and got out through the screen. So we had 100 pinhead crickets loose in our bedroom.

  I can't even begin to tell you how completely annoying that was.

The apartments that I live in too have regular pest control. I am always home to tell them no but regardless I never feed a bug that falls onto the floor. A lot of pesticides are harmful to reptiles, fish, and birds. Careful as well, pest control companies lie about this, I was one for 8 years and the things the sales people would tell the customers was shocking.

On pest control - we haven't signed back up for it since they changed the rule to IF you want pest control you need to call the office to arrange it. I still won't feed anything that is found in the house or on the floor because you never know about residue or if they came and sprayed without telling us. Better to be safe!

Thank you all for the answers. I've found 2 crickets, but the other 3 are gone. I didn't see them anywhere.

They are off enjoying their freedom. We had some cricket escapage last night - pre-adults...the loud, chirping kind. Oh joy. :p

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
