Cricket Order in the Suffocating South

I just wanted those of you in the South..Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas to know that I ordered 1000 1/2 inch crickets from Hungrylizard.com in Canton, MS. I ordered at 12pm on Tuesday and had my crickets delivered at 2 pm today (Wednesday). That was using USPS (yes the postal service) in 1 day (I almost fainted.

I had ALL live crickets...maybe 5 dead out of the whole bunch.

I was shocked! It has been 90 to 100 here in Houma, which is an hour Southwest of New Orleans. I was expecting a bunch of dead crickets. I talked to HungryLizard before I ordered and they assured me they have a guarantee and they have very little cricket loss due to heat. I have seen others down in the South worried about ordering with the heat, but I was tired of paying 10 cents a piece when my dragons are eating 100 crickets a day.

The total cost with shipping was 17.95.....So if you are nervous about the heat...try these guys!

perfect timing...I ordered 250 from Ghann's Crickets on Sunday. Emailed them Monday afternoon asking for a tracking number, emailed again Tuesday and then again today. Never received a response at all. The crickets did arrive this evening via Fed Ex (even though I selected UPS ground when i ordered) and had quite a few dead bugs, but I'm pretty sure they over compensated and I received approx 250 living crickets in there. I was just turned off by the lack of communication. Their website specifically says they try to reply to emails within 4 hrs......haha, yeah right. It's been 4 DAYS and no reply.

I'm going to try Hungry Lizard next week per your recommendation!

Yea, I just ordered 500 3/8'' crickets from them for only 13 bucks, and that was including shipping. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Well, did you read my initial post? They were able to ship my 1000 cricket order with no loss and I cleaned my cricket bins tonight and no significant loss after 2 days. Healthy crickets, fast delivery and a live guarantee....so I would say, yeah they are trust worthy!

Especially if you are in Alabama. Its a one day shipment for you!

I'm not to happy with their order. I ordered mine on wen and I still haven't gotten them yet. No email with my tracking number or anything. Only thing I've gotten from them is a confirmation of payment.

what are the temperatures like where you are? because i tried to order from Ghanns last week and they wouldn't ship them because it was over 95 degrees here in Texas. they emailed me saying i could still order them but i would have to give up the live guarantee

I just got my order this afternoon. I didn't have any dead ones so I guess all is well. I was kinda thrown off by their un-orthodox shipping method but hey, 13 bucks for 500 crickets isn't bad at all. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

What do you mean by un-orthodox? Did they ship them in a box with screen sides? How do other companies ship? Just curious....

For the hot South, and 90 to 100 temps, I was thrilled to get a box of live crickets....kinda freaked my co workers out...but hehehehe...they were ALIVE

I mean un-orthodox as in I never got an email with a tracking order so I could have an ETA when the package was gonna get here. Instead I got a text from my room mate saying "Hey you got a package, I put it in your room" and I sent a reply saying "Oh ****, Those are the crickets. Get them outta my room!"
