Cricket cage?

I got a old fish tank from when i was like 6 and was thinking about putting the crickets in it. The problem is that i dont have a lid. So i was thinking about making a lid and the top part be made out of a wire mesh & cutting some pvc and putting caps on the other side. will the crickets be able to stay on the inside of the pvc and when i pull the pvc out from the top will the wire mesh hurt the crickets?

I'm not sure how much pvc pipe costs but I'll bet just buying a decent sized rubbermaid bin with holes punched in the top would be cheaper and less work!

I have a big rubber maid container and cut a square hole in the middle so I can reach down and scoop them up, and they cant get out. They are around $5.

Hmmm, that's a good idea. You don't ever have to worry about escapes that way? We have the rectangular hole but with a screen. Although it'd be nice and easy to just be able to reach in for sure.

Ive never had an escape, they can't seem to be able to crawl upside down and I don't want to have to take the lid off every time. I usually shake all the egg cartons out and just scoop them up with a umm, frozen juice container lol and dust them in that and give them to her.

I use superworms too, I even breed them. I just don't know if I want to deal with beetles, they are expensive..
