Yessiree folks, I planted my garden based on what Crack can eat and since it was so nice & sunny out today I was finally able to take him to explore his special garden... So far it's pretty pathetically flooded with pansies as I haven't gotten in the rest of the plants I ordered yet, but still, it's pretty and guess who likes it?!
He sat at the edge of the garden for a good 10 mins or so just listening to all the sounds (cars driving by, sirens, bicycles, birds galore, etc.) and once he was convinced it was safe to take a step, he stretched out and licked the petal of one of the pansies. Then took that first step and gobbled up the entire flower head in a few bites. He ate a couple leaves off the stem and after a good 10 more minutes moved through the flowers, stopping every couple steps to check the sky (as I kept blocking his sun moving with him, hovering over him in case he should bolt), and he nibbled on a couple other flowers, tasted about four other colours, lol...
This is his first intake of greens in weeks, he's been living on superworms, silkworms, hornworms and butterworms. Won't touch the crickets and any greens I put in his dish.
He did like the one large rock that's under the edge of my husband's Magnolia tree, as he could hide under the little branches and survey the flowers from his perch. I didn't get pics as I was alone and didn't want to risk taking my full attention away from him but will post some in the next couple of days if my husband is home to help take the pics.
His colours stayed fairly dark the entire time I had him out there, but once I scooped him & put him up on my chest/shoulder to carry him inside, by the time we got to his tank he was his lovely bright yellow again. I think he actually had a good time!
