My almost one year girl has been making a quite cough sound lately.
She only does it once in awhile but im concerned..
She is pooping as should be and appetite seems good.
She eats everyday about 5-8 medium dubia,no veggies or fruit yet.

Other then that i think everything is perfect.

Should i be worried that its a RI?

What to do?

Hello,

What is your humidity in the tank?
What are the temps in the tank & how do you measure the temps? A stick on thermometer, a digital probe or a temp gun?
When does she cough more, in the morning or evening?
Good that she is eating regularly also.

Shes in a huge 4x2x2 cage from custumcages.
The temps is about 80-90 on the cool side and basking is about 110-115 degrees.
Im yet to buy a nice digi thermo w/probe.
im using a cheapy plastic gauge.,,,i really dont think theres a issue w/heat but...?
At night it gets about 70-75.
As far as humidity,i live in AZ so theres not much;)
No water in the cage,,i bath and spray her often...
She only does this once in awhile,,,like today i didnt notice.
When she does do it its like once and like once every few days i notice it.
Shes active, eats, poops, looks happy/healthy,and seems great,,,other then this issue.

Not sure if i should just keep a eye on the issue and see if it goes away or if i need to vet her...really dont have the money but if something this small could be fatel i will do so...?

Hello,

I am SO sorry! I do not get in the Health section real often & forgot to check this thread again.

Ok, there are a couple of things we need to address. The round analogue type of thermometer is not good for measuring the basking spot. It will measure the ambient temps but that is about it. You will need to get a digital probe or a temp gun so you can measure the temps.
The recommended basking temps are 95-110 & the cool side should only be about 78-82.
What type of substrate are you using? Sand, tiles, or paper towels? Could some dust be bothering her a little bit?
When does she cough most, during the day, the evening, after she eats? Or just when you startle her?
Does it sound kind of like a hiss possibly? They do a forced exhalation in which they make a noise in their throat by forcing air out of their mouths & then push their beards out in display. Is this remotely what it sounds like?

umm.. temps should be 95-110 not 30. newpapers pellets are also a bad choice. thermometer needs to be digital with a probe or temp gun. you need a UVB light as well as a basking light.

PLEASE FILL THIS OUT

How old is your dragon?
How long have you had your dragon?
How long is your dragon?
What is the sex of your dragon?
What size enclosure do you have your dragon in?
What type substrate do you have on the bottom of your tank?
Do you use UVB lights?
If so, Is it a coil, compact, fluorescent tube, or Mercury Vapor bulb?
What is the brand name and number of your bulb? Wattage (if MVB)?
How old is your UVB bulb?
How close can your dragon get to the UVB?
Do you use a separate basking bulb? What kind and what is the wattage?
What are the basking temps?
What is the cool side temp?
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun?
Where exactly are you taking your basking temps?
Do you use a heat rock or heat pad?
What do you feed your dragon? Please be specific.
How often do you feed and what time do you feed (morning, afternoon, night)?
Do you gutload (feed) your crickets, worms, etc?
Do you use vitamin or calcium supplements? What brand(s)? How many days a week do you use each of them?
Is your dragon having regular bowel movements (poops)?
Do you bath your dragon? How often?
Do you mist your dragon or offer water other than in the bath?
Does your dragon share an enclosure with another dragon?
Have you gotten a vet check and fecal done?

He meant 30° celcius which is 86° fahrenheit. It's still too low, but not to the extreme you seem to be thinking.

Hello,

Venom508, you will need to start your own thread, so we can address your dragon's issues better & will not hijack the Original Poster's thread. Thank you for your cooperation. :D

Hello,

You do house your dragons separately right?
Well, we need to make sure the temps are correct because if she is not warm enough she could have a respiratory infection starting. Though she doesn't seem to have all of the symptoms. It could be just in the beginning stages though.
Why don't you raise the nighttime temperatures just a little & try to keep the tank around 75-80 overnight to help stave off a respiratory infection in case she could be getting one.
I doubt the calcium powder would cause that though. Good you have tiles & not a loose substrate so they should be fine as well.
Let me know how she is doing.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
