So my enclosure for my baby beardie (who I do not yet have) is a 30" x 12" x 18" high 30 gallon tank. It's got the same dimensions of a 20L except it's 6" taller.
I recently received the 100 watt Repti Basking Spot Lamp I ordered, and tested it out in my enclosure. I was using my RetiTemp infrared thermometer to check temperatures, using the MAX setting so it would show me the highest temp I scanned. Here was my results for the temperature of the basking spot:
Just Turned on - 83.0°F max
After 5 minutes - 91.5°F max
After 10 minutes- 97.5°F max
After 20 minutes- 106.5°F max
After 40 minutes- 110.0°F max
So my basking spot got to a high enough temperature, but when I checked the farthest part of my cool side, the temp was somewhere around the high 70s, creeping into the 80s and then the 90s the closer I got to the hot side.
Is that a high enough temperature for my cool side, and if not, what should I do about it?
Thanks.
