With the R-Zilla UVB light you can take two screws out of the back and the plastic should pop right off. I have one, but it holds an 18inch, and has been working very well for my beardie. He is growing and pooping and playing. He gets his crickets dusted with Calcium and D3, and D3 is what the UVB mostly for, but without the UVB light you run a risk of your beardie developing MBD... Im building a new viv as we speak, so I was wondering if I should still keep the same brand. The only ReptiSUN's sold here are the 2.0 and Im not too happy about that.... I guess ordering one would be better, but for now I have the R-Zilla one... But yes, take the plastic off, there is not point in even having it if you block its output.

I think it is going to be very important for you to get an enclosure that is wider than tall, and one that can contain the heat better. They can grow fast, and I suspect he will soon outgrow that enclosure and start climbing up. Its possible he could hurt his nails while doing so, and if high up that could be dangerous. Beardies sense heat best from above, as they sense the natural sunlight. Its important that their light and heat sources come from above. This also helps create the temp gradient in the enclosure. Its also important you get a Reptisun 10.0 tube florescent bulb for uvb. I went through the whole lighting dilemma when I got Bella. The other bulbs will hurt their eyes and they will not be getting proper UVB exposure. In measuring the temps and humidity, you should invest in a probe thermometer or a temp gun. Those dials are inaccurate. When I got my first beardie she was that small, under optimal conditions they will start to grow REALLY fast. I hope this helps!
