Coccidia question

So because of covid I am having a hard time finding a vet accepting new exotic patients. I have a 6 mos old beardie that started having weird poops around Thanksgiving. He is active, eats greats, growing, shedding and when he sees me start to feed him runs down doing his happy dance. But his poop has mucus circles in it and it's on the looser side and smells horrible. I have a 2nd beardie in another cage same lighting same diet every not having the issue. I have a feeling I'm dealing with coccidia but not sure what to do if no vets are accepting new patients and he otherwise is acting fine. Is this something his system is fighting, that reptaid will help or will it require antibiotics for sure to get them gone. **I am actively cleaning using the reptile disinfectant as soon as he goes and he usually only goes every 3 or 4 days.

Collect a sample call the vet tell them you suspect parasites -- you want to drop a fecal off for testing -- it needs to be w/ in a 24 hr period - they will prescribe a med to kill the parasites -- if he does have them take everything out of the tank disinfect it w/ F10 or Rescue or Zoo Meds Wipeout-- only put a few basking decor pieces in as your going to haft to disinfect that tank every time he poops while on the meds -- and you dont want to reinfect him again after getting him thru the med time period -- so little as possible w/ the decor - use paper towels for substrate its easier to clean up and you can discard it -- clean your tank w/ the F10 or Rescue or Wipe Out every time he poops this will kill the parasites hes pooping out as well---------what insect are you feeding?

Thank you. I have called 5 vets one tech told me to email the vet he is out of the office till Monday. So I have done that and am waiting to find anyone that can get me a appt or anything. I already removed all but 2 rocks from his cage and I have the vinyl zen mat in the bottom of his cage that I have been cleaning with Wipeout for a week now, since he had the poop. I also give him a bath immediately. Like half the time he looks at me like I'm crazy cause he is still standing in the spot and not sure he's done pooping lol. He likes to stand on his rock to poop and hang his butt over the edge. Lol I also have bought reptaid but it just got here I haven't given it to him yet. He eats dubia that I order and he currently has some freeze dried crickets that I bought because thru the holidays it was harder to find dubias shipping. The company I order from shut down for holidays and I got 500 just before they did. He also loves collard and mustard greens. I gave him a horn worm and noticed the weird poop start shortly after and I thought it was too fatty for him but he hasn't went back to normal poops since.

You don't need to take him in unless your wanting a check up-- NO ENEMAS!!!! those often end in disaster- it's going to be better to take the fecal in and you can get that done sooner than appointment- ok so he's only eating the dubias for insects? They can get them from crickets but blaze had coccidia and I was trying to figure out how he got them since he's never had crickets in his life - the vet said he's probably had the eggs and they hatched he too was under a year- he's had 3 fecals done since then and his numbers are real low and in check now

Will places do a fecal without ever meeting him. I was worried about the stress of the trip and the fact it's 10 degrees outside but wasn't even sure the other was a option. I'm waiting on call backs from all the vets that listed reptiles

Out of curiosity, do you think a plain old vanilla vet would be able to do it? They're not actually dealing with the animal, just looking for critters in poop. Then at least it would be known if the critters are there or not. Might save a more expensive vet visit if the test comes back normal. I've often wondered that cause our closest reptile vet is 2 hours away but there is a regular vet a mile away. Of course you would go to a reptile vet if the numbers were high enough that medication would be required.
