I got this rescue boy last Sunday. I quickly realized he couldn't see, and walks funny.
Upon showing my friends a video of his movement, everyone started saying/agreeing that he seemed to have MBD.

Idk anything about his previous care before I got him..
SUPPOSEDLY he ate collards, mustards, and kale daily along with dubia and hornworms..
lived in a 75 gallon tank with a female, and black calcium sand.
the UVB was a reptiglo 10.0(blegh)
But the female(who can see) didn't recognize the dubia as food at first.
She stared one down for ages, ate one, and then quickly ate 3 more.
That seems VERY suspicious to me.
I never actually talked to the previous owner, as he did not wish to speak to me.
We communicated through a mutual friend, who also sold us both dubia..
he tells me the boy came down bi weekly to buy dubia.

For the past week, I have bathed and massaged him(and the girl, because she hasn't pooped either) every day.
For the past 2 days, I have been feeding nothing but apple sauce, various oils(olive and mineral), and pumpkin mash.
The basking temp is, on average, 107 for both of them(Critter Condoz with the same wattage bulbs keep the temps relatively the same in each of my enclosures)..
Their substrate is newspaper.
Upon massaging their stomachs, I cannot feel any obvious impaction in either of them(but that's obviously not to say that there is none.)

Butyeah, at LEAST 9 days now.. but who's to say when the last time they pooped was? .w.
Not like that kid will ever talk to me. Ughh. The story was: he and his mum are moving. He wanted to get 2 critter condoz for their new house instead of the 1 tank, since they are reaching sexual maturity. Mum said NO, and told him he wasn't allowed to bring them with him, and needed to find new homes. He asked my dubia guy to take them, and he in turn asked me if I had room for two more rescues. I agreed, thinking that this would be an easy rescue-rehoming, I mean they were supposedly well cared for. WELP, I ended up with 2 consipated babies..one with semi-major special needs. (I say semi because he is suuuch a doll about it.. he seems to love being fed, love being held, and ahhhh he's so cute<3<3<3)

But heck guys, what should I do? -w-
anyone know any good vets in/around DC?
all the ones i've talked to are terrible..

and if I find one that isn't derpy, do you think getting an enema would be worth a shot?
They seem to be dangerous for reptiles, though..

Help. >__>

Hello,

That is too bad he is not able to see very well. Can he see at all?
Which UVB light are you using now?
If he seems to be impacted, you can use sugar free applesauce, canned pumpkin & a couple of drops of olive or mineral oil daily along with a nice warm bath to see if you can help him out.
He may be very malnourished which can cause constipation, along with low calcium, too.
Do you have any pictures of him we could see now?

Let us know how he is doing.

I think just give it some time. They both may have very sluggish systems from improper feeding, and just don't go that often. They are stressed right now, an enema might do more harm than good, as will an inexperienced vet.

I think he can see shadows..but not much at all.
Like if you circle a bug or his feeding syringe around his head, no movement.
Putting the syringe to his mouth, however, generates a :love5: response..
Move your finger close to his eye(to see if he'll blink), no movement or blinking until you actually touch the scales near his eye.

Reptisun 10.0, I have been doing all of that, and yeah..I've been feeding him liquid calcium too.

this is the little boy Kristiina keeps asking you stuff about. c:

this is him, and the girl. This is the last time they saw eachother, I only put him in there for the sake of taking the pic..
he always sits like this, and sometimes puts his feet over his tail.

Nnn, probably.

BTW GUYS THEY BOTH JUST POOPED! OMG!
the AcidophiLiz+ my friend got me came in the mail today, and using that was the only thing I did differently today. Do you think maybe that helped??
I am going to continue the oils and baths(just in case there's still stuff stuck in there, assuming there was ever something stuck in there), but let them go back to normal food(the boy gets roaches and criticare in his slurries again, the girl gets solid food

Sound good?

Hello,

That is great they both went to the bathroom now!
The acidophiliz could have helped I suppose. I think you should continue with the daily baths & the soft foods & a drop or two of oil. They could still be impacted as adults can still pass items/food through & still be impacted.
I hope they are both doing better.
That is a great picture of them both.
That is good you are giving liquid calcium, that should help out quite a bit.

I found an exotic animal vet on yelp.com for you....I don't personally know if they are good you will just have to call and see what they say about beardies. :D
http://www.yelp.com/biz/stahl-exotic-animal-veterinary-services-fairfax#query:reptile vet

good luck!
went to him before..
Not too great an experience for me, not Frey.
Due to carelessness on the vet's part, she's now missing half the meat on her leg..
also Engel is okay now. C: he pooped.

Besides, getting an enema done by an inexperienced vet can be fatal

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
