Chubby butt diet/exercise help

Hi everyone! Lulu recently went to her one year old head to toe check, and she is the picture of health..... minus the fact that she’s morbidly obese lol. I had X-rays done to check her bones (concern with muscle loss in her back legs that’s she had since I bought her), a parasite fecal test, etc and she’s all good besides her weight. The vet I took her to is my go to for general checkups, but not genuine problems. I have an emergency herp vet that’s 2 hours away, but she’s crazy expensive so she’s strictly emergencies. This vet knows Lulu is very overweight, but she isn’t 100% how to change her protein to lose weight so I’m coming to you for recommendations! Obviously she will be getting a lot more salad and a lot less protein but I’m not sure HOW much. She normally gets 25 medium/large (little less than an inch) dubias once a day. She always has a salad available to her which she empties at least once. How much should I cut back on her dubias? Also what are some good activities for her to get some exercise? It’s too cold to take her outside now, and when I put her in a mesh outdoor cat tent in my room she just burrows in the comforter I put in the bottom and falls asleep lol. I crochet and I made her a jungle gym thing in her tank since she used to love to climb, but she’s not really going for it. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you ❤️
Picture of the chubby butt for reference lol

Hi there, Lulu is a beautiful girl and definitely needs to lose weight. I did reply on one of your threads about a week or so ago. She should only be fed 2-3 dubias a day at the most right now, and a big salad daily but with very little or no fruit. Try taking her outdoors to let her run around in the grass if weather permits. Other than that, just put her on the ground in a large open room and pick her up every time she tries to snuggle in or under something, putting her back in the same spot and prompting her to run.

I would also try tying a roach with a bit of twine and dragging it along the floor for her to chase, just out of her reach. That should be interesting to watch. :) Or roll blueberries across the floor like this :

I remember your reply! I figured I’d try to get a couple opinions :) It’s been staying around the 60s lately where I live, so definitely no outside time until after winter. I have to work with her on that too because she’s deathly afraid to be outside. She just about lost her mind when I held her and a tiny gust of wind blew through lol. I will try letting her run in the house! I planned to get her a harness because there’s lots of hidey holes she could run in even if I’m watching her. I tried to use tweezers and make her chase her dubias, but the little fatty just turned her head and looked at me like she was saying “seriously mom?” Lol. I have spoiled her from the day I brought her home and I’m afraid I have created a lazy spoiled little chub ball lol. She absolutely goes crazy for blueberries so I’ll definitely give that a go as well! I started to give her Flukers liquid vitamin drops in one of her salads a day too because for whatever reason she absolutely loves the taste of it and goes to town. I just wanted to try it when she was feeling poopy and she perked right up and goes nuts for it lol. Thank you so much!

Just checking in to see how she is doing ? Also, be careful with vitamin drops, they should only be used a drop or 2 at a time twice a week. Oh, and here is a video of how to get your beardie to workout, I thought it might inspire her. :)

I saw that video and my dad is actually making me one for her ? Thank you for checking in! Her diet is going well, but I didnt see a physical difference at all until I just uploaded her newest picture. She definitely looks a little smaller and less rotund! I have noticed for sure that she’s moving around a lot more and doesn’t just sit at her food bowl all day. She actually ran to me for some spring mix the other day I was so proud of her lol. She’s shedding so I’ve been having her swim in a warm bath everyday to get some extra exercise and water. She hasn’t been pooping very much at all (Once a week tops), but I’m guessing it’s because she has less protein. She’s darker in the attached pictures because my room was a little cold and I just gave her a bath, but I only took her out for a quick snuggle and some pictures before putting her in her tank. She’s the sweetest thing I swear. She has to see me at all times when she’s out, and if I just set her in my lap she will walk over and clasp a little hand on my shirt to know I’m still there it’s so cute ? In the second one I leaned back a little to take a picture and she freaked out thinking I was going to get up without her so I had to leave my hand on her for the picture lol

I'll pay that one …. but really putting a dragon on treadmill to walk off the calories …. silly …. just silly.

How about letting the big dragon have some extra time on the floor to explore and yes you guessed it, use up some of the energy reserves (body fat) ?

If you’re talking about mine, I do that. She swims and goes into a mesh cat tent too but she still wasn’t losing weight.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
