Hey folks

Just changed our Randalls Viv today. It was his first birthday yesterday; he has out grown his old viv so we bought him a new bigger one for his birthday :D
He doesn't seem to happy at the moment... scratching in corners and black bearding. My partner put his hand in and he reared up with his mouth open!! I know they get relocation stress but can this happen with a new viv?
He is eating fine; just eaten a few locusts. Temps are all good ... maybe he just needs time to adjust to his new surroundings. Do you guys know what the scratching in corners means? is he trying to get out or just having a dig around?

Whilst i'm posting this topic I also wanted to know if any of you know when shedding starts to slow down? We had a BD Kafka who unfortunately died of a respiritory disease; he used to shed all the time. We had him from a young baby. with Randall, we bought him when he was 6months old but since he has been with us he has hardly shed at all. We take him to our vet every 3 months to be weighed and he is growing really well?

Thanks for reading :) :blob5: :blob5:

Any type of change to their environment can cause stress on them, including putting them into a new viv all together.

My guy digs around in corners lots too lol.. sometimes it's because he pooped, sometimes its because he wants out. He tends to do alot of scratching in corners when his lights go out.

I would just watch him and let him adjust to the new viv!

Ok... thank you for replying.
He has started to perk up a little bit now and he has been exploring and climbing... he is settled on his log now, so hopefully he will start to get used to his new surroundings.
Thanks for your help

Mine was the opposite when I got a new Viv. He was more mad that I moved his old Viv into the living room when I got the new one. Didn't eat much for a week and kept puffing out at me even when I would walk by. Put him in his new Viv that was in his other Viv's spot and he was perfectly fine. Started eating again and stopped puffing out at me. Weird little poopers sometimes.

I agree, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just some relocation stress

I can't believe you got a new viv all set up and didn't post pictures! We demand pictures!

PS: I agree with the others that it's likely just relocation stress and he'll be fine in a few days.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
